Looking at the e-bay add, the big flange would go towards the balancer.

The billet retainer on ebay is what Dellow make now. They discontinued the pressed metal type many many moons ago.

in torrypowers picture what you see faces the radiator , you could grind down head of bolts by a mm or two Gene ,

From experience I would not go with out one of these plates on my holden 6 ...

The earlier steel dellow retaining plate (same as Genes) was a very good copy of the ones gmh used on the 73 bath 150 engines , I have an original and is very very close but no dellow stamping .

7000 not a prob as long as the other bits are up to the job ! he he and have fun ...

I made my own.................but then again I'm super duper.
The Dellow/NOS ones will stop it falling off forwards but they can also go backwards and machine the timing cover away.

The retainer plate you have was sold from a SA dealership in the mid 70's. There were two plates in the packet when l aquired them. I still have the original paper packing, and its sister, with that part number on it. I am not sure if that is a factory number or one issued to after market stock items. Regardless it is still a great insurance policy to have!
