I have done a bit of looking and I can't find any cans of Holden Rocket Red. Does anyone know who makes and stocks it still?

Yes I had found that.. But my problem was finding a more common supplier from one of the big brands that are available here in NZ.. And they won't ship aerosols across the ditch.

As I said KBS. Comes in 500ml tin. You can thin with turps and use in 2mm gun, but a brush is just as good, with excellent gloss. Not the cheapest.

Both painted in KBS Motor coater- great stuff.

Engine is Rocket Red and Aluminium Motor coater for manifold and timing case etc.

Box is Holden Red (EH etc) because I think it is a nicer finish than just Red oxide but similar in colour.

Did you brush it on your gearbox clay?
Or is it sprayed on?
Came up great
Everyone you run over will really appreciate the finish

Jaso, in theory, if you had bought a spray can labelled as Rocket Red then you had bought Holden HK Rocket Red.
That said it is probable the colour may have varied slightly between manufacturers.

Thanks Dave, my recolections to Rocket Red (of the X2 version perhaps) were many years ago, probably back in the mid 90's. Of which I'd painted my EH engine at the time (wrong i know).

I have an old photo of it somewhere that i cannot locate right now, but will eventually.

Presently Ive painted my 202 Chevy Orange (rookie mistake) as imaged..in sunlight.

From what i have recently seen shared to me by another forum participant, my Chevy Orange to the shared Rocket Red, they appear close in colour.

If anything, my paint colour seems a little redder?

I wont share the other forum partipants photo as i dont have permission, but the other seems a little more orange in colour than mine??

Personally I was never impressed with VHT engine paints. They seemed to take more coats to get good coverage. Maybe 40 years on they have improved?
