My understanding of the requirements for attire if you are running in the FoSC's Come & Try / Regularity class are; neck to ankle cotton overalls (e.g. King Gee work wear), enclosed shoes, non-flammable gloves and a helmet that complies with AS1698.

I think you'll find that the helmet standard is AS/NZS1698, AS1698 is an old standard

checked my bike helmet and it's AS1698 and not AS/NZ 1698

I note  that you needed a " DOT " approved helmet in bike racing which this one is BUT is missing the AS/ NZ . but does say it's SAI Global approved.

Will call them on Monday prior to putting in my entry.

Col are u going into regularity with dodgy ?

Just found this on CAMS website, will read later tonight

John,

thanks mate, the reason i bought the car was simple as i just cannot put the GTR through a shit time after the resto. I bought this car to;

A) take to the track and flog the begeezues out of

B) buff the paint and not worry about burn through

C) try spray painting with acrylic and F Up and then re do lol - however a call to brocks 72 will help on this one

D) Have a crack at racing  and look good doing it and some fun - everyone loves a torana even if it finishes last against a mitubishi lacer evo F@ing 15

come on out for the 8th  bro

re Regularity....my doco says "C&T, and provisionally entered in Reg."....think that means if I'm a good kid...I get a go in the Reg. too.

I think you'll find that the helmet is out of date.

I have to say that the motor in rocket is a cracker and goes quiet well. The alternator shit it self and this was an issue but picked up a second hand one today from the wreckers.

the only problem is SU's don't like the cold starts.

today went to the mechanic and discussed a few things today and am sourcing a set of volvo 4 spots calipers  for the front and I will post the fitting details once I start the process.

I have sourced another diff to start the diff re build and then just swap over.

priced a set of new tyre's for the car but will have to wait till i can afford them.

looking forward to the next event.

What tyres are you looking at? I'd be interested to hear what you are considering to use. We will also need tyres shortly. Was quoted $300 each today to replace the Yokohama's - not sure I can spend that amount. The dealer suggested looking at the Hankook RS3 as a cheaper option. But don't know anything about them - will have to do some research.

RS3's have a decent reputation up here, they are a street biased semi though, the yokies are more track oriented..

I've got Toyo R888 tyres which have been on my car since I bought it, they seem to stick like s_ _ _ to a blanket.
I'm also running Volvo calipers, so give me a call if you need information or photos etc. I didn't do the brake conversation as it was already done when I bought the car, but I can see what they've done to fit them.

p.s. keen to understand the Volvo thing..
Most of the front Historic Nc cars seem to run Volvo calipers and BMW discs??
cause that's what they came with from the factory???...ha ha .
But seriously, I'm keen to understand the mods required and the payback....Grant's thread may do this anyway.

The BMW disc's are ventilated, the original disc's are not.
The Volvo calipers are apparently one of the smaller 4 spot calipers available, this means they will still fit behind 13" wheels. The surface area of the brake pads in the Volvo calipers is much bigger than the standard pads, therefore providing higher braking forces.
I'm definitely no expert on the matter, but this is just what I've seen or been told, I'm sure someone will have better technical knowledge on the matter than I do.

HQ discs & caliper are also possible - ventilated & much larger pads

Wouldn't you need to use 14" rims with HQ brakes, if so I assume that could be a problem with the historic racing regulations. Someone else will have a more definite answer on that I'm sure.

To fit the Volvo calipers it looks like the stub axles have had a bolt screwed into the old mounting holes, the cut the head off the bolt and welded to secure. Next new mounting holes have been drilled and tapped to suit the Volvo calipers.

Steve,

full race for 221 + gst - so a bit cheaper than $300

I'm on to the volvo calipers now, and have held discussion, you need a bracket to be made up. Col , I'll keep you  and Steve in the loop for what ever i do i will just ask for two extra to be made, just for the sake and will contact you. If you don't need them then this will be fine,

From what i understand the caliper is standard. I did speak to Bosjnak (terry) and he said that this caliper wears the pads in a way that is not even, He said that i should get a better caliper, but at $800 per caliper i said that i'll stick to the volvo ones. and just replace the pads as needed.

G

Once i have the calipers and have them re built, he sugested that I just drop the car over as it will be easier. they do have stub axles there which they can use to make the brackets off.

Good to see you on the hunt mate and thanks for thinking of me,

Reckon the Harrop Tru Track/Boz.axles will sort my budget out for now...brakes might have to wait....it's too bloody cold sleepin in the shed this time of year, if my missus figures out what I'm spending!!.
