Make sure that you brace/tack/weld on some bracing in your door frame before you do ANY work on the sill/floor area,,To keep in position or it WILL move.. look through my build threads.. Their are some pics there some where..

Mike

After-work today was able to spend a bit of time on the Torana with Dad

I made up some bracing and welded it in (thanks Mike) hope this is enough to stop anything moving when

I cut out the floor and inner sill.

The car has had a replacement floor before however it was overlapped and not But welded

You can see the rust in between the overlaps.

I took a few more pics of the LHS inner sill and floor corner not flash. and Dad took a couple of me

Mate that is a lot of work done James,

not sure if you need a 'X' stay from side to side too,

like from the drivers door opening top,

to the passenger door opening bottom, and vise versa.

Mike will be around to say.

in any case, you look happy.   :spoton:

hi mate you need a brace from middle of the gear box tunnel to the pillar you are cutting out near, as there is more a chance that your A-pillar will twist in, rather then lay back,,,

and most of all i would be fixing the inner sill first that way you have the floor part to line up with, once you replace the inner sill dont weld to the floor pan, then move your brace so it hankers from drivers pillar to passengers pillar and one from passengers pillar to upper drivers side roof,, this would be over kill but better to be safe, then cut out floor pan,,,, sorry i dont have time for pics atm

cheers gong

I can not thank you enough for the assistance and effort that you have gone to to help a young Torana mad pup .

I have not done much on the car this week as we have been flat out at work, roll on the weekend as I will be attempting some fabrication work.

He's bought some sprinty's for it, I know that.

I had the pleasure of meeting James and his Dad and they are both top blokes.

I can tell this is going to be a really great build too.

Hope your Dad is doing well James, he certainly loves his Toranas which makes him alright in my book :-)

Hi everyone I have not had a lot of time lately to work on the car with work commitments and helping Dad Drill on the weekends

Anyway was able to do a bit of work on theTorana this weekend with Dad.

We removed the passenger side front guard to allow better access to the A pillar rust, the inner guard looks pretty good will strip back and make sure that there are no hidden nasties.

We did a rough fit up of the outer sill panel to see what it would be like and it looks not too bad.

I have been reading all the forum stuff that I can to learn as much as I can and it was great to meet Potta (Craig) top bloke who sold me some great rims.

I was complaining about the condition of mine until I saw your thread. All I can say is that what I have seen so far is a the dedication to do the job properly the first time on a project that many would have given up on. Good work and I look forward to seeing the final result.

Keep going James, you're doing a great job.

This is going to be a great car, I can tell you're the kind of guy who does things properly and isn't scared of a challenge.

Thanks mate.

Should be all good as long as she'll steer in a straight line.

Thanks for buying those wheels too, the extra $ was a big help in getting it to where it is.
