Commodore PCD 5 x 120 mm  Studs 12 mm x 1.5 mm

HQ PCD 5 x 4.75" Studs 7/16" UNF (The HQ was designed using imperial measurements hence the PCD of 4.75" which is approximately 120.65 mm.)

Using the table EunUCh posted the Commodore measures 70.535 mm and the HQ measures 70.916 mm between the studs. You will need to be able to measure with an accuracy of around 0.1 mm to determine the difference between the two.

If the measurement is around 70 mm then the studs may help determine between Commodore and HQ. If the studs are 12 mm x 1.5 mm then it is likely that it is Commodore pattern. If the studs are 7/16" UNF then it would seem likely that it is HQ pattern as it would be unlikely that someone would drill Commodore pattern and fit 7/16" UNF studs.

Commodore PCD 5 x 120 mm  Studs 12 mm x 1.5 mm

I doubt that it applies in this case, but just for the sake of accuracy...

VB to VZ Commodores are 5x120mm PCD with M12 studs and a 69.5mm centre bore

VE & VF Commodores are 5x120mm PCD with M14 studs and a 66.9mm centre bore

This means that older Commodore wheels won't fit on later Commodores (because the M14 studs are too big); and

Later model wheels won't fit on early Commodores (because the centre bore is too small)

What I would suggest is that you forget about buying wheels for now.

Swap the motors over, get it registered and on the road, then when you see a set of wheels for sale, you can drive the Torana out to look at them and most times the seller will let you jack up the car in his or her driveway and try one on, guesswork eliminated, problem solved!

I wouldn't even consider buying wheels and tyres from interstate, unless they're extremely rare or similar it will cost you more in freight than the wheels are worth.

It's a pretty safe bet that once you hit the road you'll be looking for any excuse to go driving anyway, and half of Sydney is only an hour away from where you are, it's just a matter of patience.

EDIT:

DOH! Beaten to the submit button yet again...

all very valid / true points guys :). im with you ice and cant see the logic in putting commodore rims on torana?, its probally all he had on him and just put them on for time been?. dont worry daz, i will make sure its the correct stud pattern before driving on road with the rims! :)

i got a quote for like 250 from e-go to transport 4 dragways rims and tyres to wollongong... thats not too bad, but if its hq pattern than theres alot more choice and can buy some from sydney  :driving:

Put up photos of your discs and calipers. If they're HQ Its very unlikely they'll be drilled to commo pattern.
