I find it more annoying when someone, by their own admission, doesnt get on here often... But feels special enough to pass judgement on the regular community.... Seems to happen every 6 months or so....

Tell me this, what did this place used to be like ? I joined 2 months before you and havent noticed any changes ??

I think its a great site and there is always someone to answer your questions or point you in the direction of another thread if its already been covered.

You only have to look at a few threads like the one about suicide and depression, to know that there are a lot of good blokes on here who offer help and support to each other in areas that don't even directly involve cars. Possibly a lot of blokes on here don't even have other close mates who are into cars so that support system is pretty cool I reckon.

This site and mysandman.com are the 2 best car forums I reckon.

Many people have sadly left

Sighting issues with other peoples attitudes as the reasons

I miss some of those people as they were great contributors

There's some good mates here

Very helpful and very protective of their cars and each other and their cars

There's definitely some blunt tools in the shed though

I think it's normal to have disagreements on things we are passionate about.....  sometimes we all go to far with some comments, but if you can write an insult in the heat of the moment, you can surly write some kind of an apology when you cool down....   whether the other person is going to accept your apology or not is another thing, and entirely up to them ....

I really like this Forum, there is a wide range of ages, knowledge, attitudes, and topics to talk about, and as for helpfulness & knowledge, this forum stands alone, help & knowledge is only useful if it is accurate, and the guy's that freely give their knowledge and advice on this forum are IMHO, second to none...     :search:

To be honest there are times when I totally understand where the OP is coming from. Seems from time to time some members only respond for the sake of it and really don't have anything to add or help, more worried about their post tally. Then, others just seem to be total know it alls, and have all the answers!?! Then of course you have the copy and paste kings.
This does make me want to take a back seat, and just stay away from time to time.

BUT........................
I can never stay away. I always seem to want to check in and read what's going on.

This forum is more like a community, and as we know it takes all sorts.
Let's face it, if you need help, you get it. If you want an opinion, you get it. And if someone responds with an answer, and it is not totally correct, the rest of the community responds to set it straight.

"you get out what you put in", well for me that's not quite right. I get out way more. I search for an answer before asking, and most of the time it's there.
I don't give too much advise as I know the more knowledgeable members will come and help.

I have seen others take time away, and come back. Why??
One that I know of, no names mentioned, had himself suspended for three months, and still came back. Why??? ( a question I hope no one answers!)

I have found that your mood plays a large part in what you read. Today what is offensive, tomorrow is funny and not a big deal.

I guess what I'm trying to get at, is this place can be what ever you want it to be, and most of the time it's full of great people willing to help with what ever you need, and sometimes that may only be a friend to say g'day!!!

Hope you hang around, it sounds like you have a great wealth of knowledge others can draw on, and hopefully you can get something back also.

Found this forum to be invaluable with some people who just ""know stuff"" and are always ready to help.

I help occassionaly, with the little I know.

This is the only forum i go on, so its the best that i know of.!

Yes there are rants and b.s , from time to time...I'm as gulity as the next.......but overall this forum is a beauty, and I've met some great blokes and done track days and stuff with them.

All good.

I'm with Skap, again, in that nothing has changed since about 2006. Who knows what things were like before that because the site had crashed and most of it was lost so we cannot refer. Go somewhere else if you are not happy.

I am a recent member but have been following the site for a reasonable time, as I suspect heaps of other people have done.  I don't think there would be many/any car sites with as much knowledge to draw on and, as we all know, the humble Torana has many variables and then multiply that when you want to change/upgrade something.  To me that is invaluable.

I understand that some guys get off the topic but that is no different than any other segment of the community/business.  The more participants the more likely there will be differences of opinion and some with very strong opinions.  And, has been said before, you have to read between the lines and understand it's boys being boys.  I am a strong believer that until someone puts sh@t on you, you haven't really been accepted into the gang.  (Just the Aussie way).

Thanks guys and girls. Cheers Ron
