Hi gents.as the headlining says i want to convert the torrie to lhd and wondering if you or any mates have done this.

and what racks they used.im not doing this straight away just  planning for down the track but not too far in the distant

future will  be getting it done.

was thinking of just changing the brackets and cutting a chunk out of kframe to work on the std rack...could this be an idea?

keen to hear your thoughts and what rack to use

cheers Maz

Hahaha we are way ahead of you mainlanders   :D  well because i can.wont be regd and will get permit to take to events.one

reason was to free up room on the right hand side for pipes,  another is for better weight distribution .and thirdy because

i reckon it would be cool.

They exported LHD up to HK-HG era, no more after then in Holden. Hawaii took LHD HK. There was LHD LC-LH though, these are in the parts catalogues. There are even part numbers for LHD steering stuff. Not sure where you are going to find them though, maybe in the Philippines? Possibly Greece or Turkey?

Hmmm sounds like an adventure to europe is on the cards  B)  .could there be a possibility GMH still have parts in hiding or would

they just made the correct amount for the so many that were expoted to europe

what were they called

They only ever made enough bits to build the cars in the production schedule, no more. Any parts were simply spares or rejects (most NOS over the last 20+ years that didn't come from dealers or panel shops was rejects, there was containers full of it sold out of GMH). So the chances of finding LHD NOS stuff in Australia is all but nil, you'd need to find it in old dealer stock overseas where the parts would have been kept for spares or better still from a wrecking yard in a LHD country.

Thanks Yel .gee i wouldnt have a clue where to start to track down old dealer stock overseas.virtually impossible for me.

first thought maybe if i knew the name of cars join up some forum over there and ask but they would be thin on the ground hey...i could try

and see what comes of it.wouldnt  of been many thousands exported i gather maybe hundreds.

If you Google Holden export timeline there is a Holden pdf that talks about exports. Looks like there were large volumes of Torana exported but no idea what % were LHD.

I'm sure theres a few drag cars around with the steering wheel on the offside you could look at

As mentioned.. some generic US rack

not really a great deal of lhd race cars here.my mates was in Lx but he's not here now.i pretty much wanted it to bolt straight up with the less

fuss and that would be the ones exported.i still have to be careful on what mods i do as to be able to get permit to drive it to events.

a dude earlier mentioned to go vh rack but when my cuz showed me pics i saw no advantage on using it would have to cut into kfame for the

rack steering rod .same senario with lj.

i didnt ask was the rack behind the krame instead of at front

Looks to me like left hand drive actually makes it harder to keep all 4 wheels on the ground!
