I owned it for a while.. Yes.

And it's a re-stamp??

Just had a better look. Is the font slightly wrong?

Dunno mate, you tell me. Like I said earlier cast date aligned... Hence my reluctance to post what I consider an original stamping... With this one in particular, the origins are a red flag...

My money is on it being OK. If it is it is a good fake.

That's why I questioned it, looked like a good pad.

How's this one look? 20m2 cast date

Hi Tony, happy to debate what constitutes an original stamping and pad...

But please don't insinuate I bought and sold a dodgy block... I honestly had no idea at the time.

Cutting to the chase, you mention the cast date of your pic... Does it align to save me looking ?

Assuming it does, any history on the stamp to ensure its the real deal ?

Skap, in no way would I ever insinuate that you knowingly bought & sold a dodgy anything. I was only asking if it was the one you were questioning. Nothing more.
Back in 2007 we weren't looking as hard at these cars/components that we are today. I was chasing a XU-1 in 2005-2006, I'm glad I didn't get 1 then as sure as shit I would've got stung.

The picture I posted is my block & ive been told it all lines up. Was removed from the car in the early 90's & kept under the owners (also went with the car when it was sold on) house while they dragged the car with a different motor fitted, also a JP block which is now in a WA XU-1, afaik. The original was fitted back in when the car came to WA in 2011.
It currently looks like this.

Adam, the 20m2 cast date on Tony's block is in perfect range for JP2812xx.

The engine number, what is visible, looks good.

Perhaps the person you bought it from wasn't always dodgy as fr0ck?

All the engine number pads at the start of the thread/first page just look completely wrong, but as soon as I saw this one it stands out as matching other genuine gmh engine numbers without having to even think about it

^^This proves what? All Holden 6's are red?

So JP397912 appears to have an original engine number stamping and it is red. It doesn't mean all Holden 6's are red.
