At the end of the day can you really expect to be compensated for the history of the vehicle that never actually made it to the history books?

Probably worth even less depending on the country but you're comparing oranges and apples; how often have you heard; how do you put a price on life?
At least in the United States, "the value of a statistical life turns out to be around $5 million," However, when a soldier is killed in Iraq, "the government pays the family $600,000"

Exactly my point, you can't compare it to another GTR or car for that matter; unless there's another pre-production race model that most people don't know exists. Insurance assessors can only use existing cars that are insured as a benchmark or lick their thumb and put it to the wind to come up with a price; it's what we in estimating call 'thumbing', lol.
It's why I'm suggesting that Al increase awareness among the gen. pop; if it becomes 'famous' he could be on the way to achieving 6 figures.
