J594748. Ordered, Wholesaled and Retailed by dealer 409. 409 is one of the last things that would have appeared on the broadcast sheet of an 11/77 Dandenong LX. First line would say:

8VD77XR  594708M TUXEDO 2214-18V A22,A8F,A8G,A9X,D72,GU4,JM8,L31,M21,QDA,TT5,UL5,V5B,XS6,XT4.D/CD 409 YD/LOC WA. Or very close to that.

I assume 409 is WA in the above.

So maybe he is remembering 408 when it was really 409?

I also just remembered the second box on the broadcast sheet right at the top, in between the order number and the car sales date is the dealer code - 409.

Hey there Paul,

Would you like this story too, and someone here in WA will know about.

Victor has a friend who has cars put away in a shed which include:-

an 'E' type Jag.

a showroom GTHO with only 10 miles on the clock (was offered $497,000 for).

a red A9X on blocks (very low km's).

a White A9X with 40,000km's that is driven only.

And I wont be eatin any of them pies soon. Gees what a story...........

the Angus beef Pies and Sausage rolls have black pepper on them are yummy.  :stirpot:

Anyhow thank-you all who helped with finding some sort of answer to the question.  :driving:

Victor told me tonight how he worked at the Holden Adelaide plant for 6 weeks in the acid wash department,

where the HQ chassis frames were acid washed ( possibly 4% ),

and then air water washed and dried.

He also said that the cradles that carried the chassis,

had dowel pointers that went up into 4 holes in the chassis,

and carried them on throughout the car manufacturing process.

I wonder if he washed his jeans?

I've seen a layout drawing for the Dandenong HQ chassis area but not for Elizabeth.

Keep drinking ya drunk

Its funny the sandgropers keep calling us Banana benders drunks, but they dribble 10 times the crap we can, and supposedly their always sober. And they keep driving cars off bridges (overpasses), who bloody knows.

Found out, that Victor was on a Holden Tour with the HQ ones,

but he was working for OLEX or something when the VC Commodore was on the lines,

servicing the robots in the acid area, which the spraying was fully enclosed,

they also had the protective aprons etc.

On another note, the OLEX guy's wore yellow and black? clothes, and were called Wasp's.

Yawn

See, as soon as you try and speak some sense a Sandgroper gets tied an starts to yawn and pretend to get sleepy. I bet they don't get sleepy sitting around the campfire listening to Dave and Victors stories about old Holdens flying off the end of bridges that might not even exist. LOL
