First hand information here Dasman,

and I was thinking about this GMH-Torana forum to fill in a missing link, but seems far from it.

Thought it was worth mentioning about this great possibility.

Hope this doesn't turn out to be another Street machine story lol

Yeah the Swan is an Estuary and does have salt water coming in from the ocean.

There is a Weir at Kent St on the Canning River which joins with the Swan near the Mt Henry bridge to stop salt water going further up the river.

I don't know how far up the salt water goes but I have seen dolphins near Bunbury Bridge (Rail Bridge near Graham Farmer Freeway) so I would say it goes a fair way up.

That is way past William St which terminates at the Esplanade and is several hundred metres from the river.

There is a Jetty at Barrack St which is the next one along and is where the Bell Tower is.

I'm not surprised they wouldn't pay out on his second accident after 3 days of owning it.

Sounds like he was an idiot back in the day, although the Horseshoe Bridge is a sh!t bridge for cars.

Victor did say that the insurance for the first Holden, payed for the A9X,

but when he crashed the A9X, he had a fight with the insurance company,

because they wouldn't pay as he had just done a claim.

Tell him this from me:

"You were a shithouse driver then and didnt deserve the second claim. You are a shithouse driver now. Stop frOcking driving you frOcking moron!"

cheers.

Up until they tunnelled up William street to connect the Mandurah rail to the city there was William street bridge which passed over Riverside drive and also served as the freeway south on ramp. If you went hard from the lights at Mounts Bay road, and missed the curve at the top of the overpass, I'm sure Victor could have launch the A9X into the river.....

Lots of barges around back then cheap. LTD, Caprice, Fairlane, Chrysler by Chrysler etc. I'd say they'd sink faster than a plastic car though - A9X's had big floaties bolted to the guards!

Ha Ha very funny Aleks and All,

Have great news, that the #408 was on the build sheet or the paperwork Victor got with the A9X,

along with the long numbers 'J blah blah blah' he said, and I said was the 408 at the end of that,

and he didn't reply other than a nod, anyhow, when I questioned the horseshoe bridge,

did you crash into railway lines or something, Victor said, " no no no I went straight off the end of William street into the river'.

I said, did William street go all the way to the river in 1980, he said it stopped at the esplanade drive,

and I went through the dead end sign over the road and into the river, there we no brick walls or anything there.

Ok no worries I said.

So this concludes Victors side of the story, to go further would be to see City Motors about the sale in 1980 I guess.

408 may well be the last 4 x digits of the PSN as you hint......I don't have my Eric Blair book in front of me to see if a 2214 8VD77 A9X has a PSN ending in 408.

Well I don't know either Yel,

this was your only answer to the #408, so I had to ask the question,

which didn't get a positive reply,

but he was adamant about having the Build #408, mate.

I await your news of the P.S.N. ya or na.

Hmm, not that then. The only other thing I can think of on a Dandenong broadcast sheet not handwritten (sometimes they had handwritten stuff on them) is the dealer code.

Found a street directory dated 1980 lying around (what's the odds eh!)

Attached File  perth1980.jpg   158.24K   12 downloads

William carries on to merge with the off ramp to Riverside, could be feasable

but would've then crossed at least 2 lanes, a median, 2/3 more lanes, another median,

3 more lanes & another large median/verge then splash! Not saying he's fibb'n, just saying

Salt water pools were around then, I used to print the control panel & printed ciruit boards

for a local company about then, maybe it was left idling & rolled down the drive into his pool?

Dunno, maybe its the story the insurance company got & he's stickin with it. lol

(X marks the spot possibly for Mustard's scenario)

yep, never said there was or has been, What Mustard refered to was the overpass

connecting William St to Riverside Drive/Mounts Bay Rd that continues on round

below Kings Park.

Bridge...overpass.....potatoe..spud....mehh.

J594748. Ordered, Wholesaled and Retailed by dealer 409. 409 is one of the last things that would have appeared on the broadcast sheet of an 11/77 Dandenong LX. First line would say:

8VD77XR  594708M TUXEDO 2214-18V A22,A8F,A8G,A9X,D72,GU4,JM8,L31,M21,QDA,TT5,UL5,V5B,XS6,XT4.D/CD 409 YD/LOC WA. Or very close to that.

I assume 409 is WA in the above.

So maybe he is remembering 408 when it was really 409?

Crikie and thank-you Yel,

I wonder why he thinks that then, will have to ask him tomorrow morning after my nightshift at Mrs Macs.

I have done lots of work and spent quite a bit of time at Mrs Macs site, I vaguely remember a short fat guy called Victor working there. Do you know John from MIM ?
