Hi Guys,

When I go to vic roads website they require a VIN that is 17 characters in length (to do a check):

https://www.vicroads...ration-enquiry/

How would I got about finding this VIN on a torana? It's an LX 77.

Thanks for your help!

It doesn't have a 17 digit ISO VIN, they didn't become mandatory until 1988 IIRC, most older cars have a chassis number instead.

A '77 LX will have a 10 digit chassis number something like "CLX0xxxxxM" stamped in the engine bay, on top of the driver's side chassis rail at the front, next to the charcoal canister.

The RTA just aren't used to dealing with older cars any more, most forms will have a separate box for either an ISO VIN or a Chassis Number.

Find the chassis number as Andrew has said, then when you go onto the vic roads rego check site click on the radio button for chassis number, enter the full chassis number in the box and click on the green search button.

You will also find the chassis number on the Compliance Plate.
