The search function has been hit and miss from time to time , if that is one of the reliability problems it quite simple to fix , just get rid of it?

Some/most would probably have a look in whatever section they are looking for info. on and if they can't find it they just start a thread

which usually ends up with someone finding something  on the subject and links found or question/s answered along with the funny stuff mixed in , sort of keeps the interestingness (big word for this time of day ) about the place.

 

We will probably never be privy to who is going the place for defamation but there was a thread a while ago where there was problems

with bits not being right and lack of support for customer , could be that or something we don't even know about , regardless , if they

have a problem they should sort it out between themselves instead of trying to blame a third party for some crap in order to try and gain

a few $ and piss a lot of people off.

I was more sort of inclined to think that it could have been Cast Rods Suck (we need forged) , but it could have been g/box mate

or something else we did not see that was hidden before it got too out of shape , either way ,whoever it is needs to pull their head

in pretty quick before they get a self  propelled defamation classification through lack of consultation or common sense and feedback

from the general community.

Had an interesting read about defamation from another source regarding forums and social media.

They generally dont go too far because even though the user may be registered etc, there is no way of actually knowing if the person posting the stuff is actually the registered user.

Apparently doesnt stand up very well in court.

 

Suppose a disclaimer that the views expressed within the forum may not necessarily align with the views of the forum owner and administrators/moderators may work as well.

 

Reasonable doubt apparently applies in litigation, but I am no lawyer.

Have lost count how many times a local forum has been threatened with legal action

 

Not once has it gone anywhere
