Well since we're obviously lacking someone smart or experienced to chime in I've gone ahead and drilled the backing plate. The fibreglass outer shell isn't as thick as the MDF version that I made to make the mould from so this means that there was the potential that I could move the air box forward to get a bit more room between it and the heater box. I didn't want to over do it as I want to keep as much free space around the ram tubes as possible.

Drilling out the holes for the ram tubes in the alloy backing plate wasn't much fun due to the hole saw and drill press having a bit of a wobble and not liking the load.

I'll fit the rubber seal tomorrow and bolt it all on. Hopefully the rain stops so I can take it for a test drive.

Sorry for the double post, my phone froze and then reloaded the above.

As you can see I'm obviously not smart or experienced either. Lol

Hi James you could try starting it putting it in gear & letting the clutch out enough that the driveline loads up & quickly pushing the clutch back in & check the movement mate. Hope that makes sense. Gary.

I don't think you'll get 10mm movement rearwards, so should be safe.

technically - it should move forward based on the rear wheel rotation - i reccon you will get nil - unless you dump it in reverse, lol

Well it's early days as far as road testing this work of art, but I got a short test drive in between the rain.

And we have success, no clearance issues and it works well. It's a tight fit getting the outer shell on and off but due to 12 months work it appears that I've made a complex idea into a simple design.

I still need to paint it and modify the heater hose brackets and whatever other steps in evolution I come up with.

I had a happy afternoon.

Sorry for the bad photo sizing, that's not my strong point. I've got more, but they're probably no good at that size.

Dude, find a random 13 year old on the street and ask him to do it for you.

Thanks Bomber, when you open the link could you see the other photos?

As for the accelerator cable wheel /pulley, I couldn't find any products suitable for sale so I made my own. By using the wheel the cable stays at the same height unlike when you use a lever. This way it stays centred in the outer sleeve and runs smoother. I made these to suit an 8mm linkage rod. It's not elliptical to make it progressive but is round. I recently got a batch of these made to sell them if anyone is interested just pm me.

That's pretty sexy!!.....do you plan any dyno runs back to back with  / without?

Whats with the plumbers cap over the end?..just for storage?

Wonder what it would be like if/when you duct it out to the front.....100mph of wind belting in there would ram it?

If you look closely you'll notice that the snout is pointed directly to the area between the headlight and the radiator so that if anyone desires they could duct it through there to get cold air from the grill.

The hose clamp and the rubber seal hold the internal cone shaped air filter in place.

Yes Grant, my skills at making things far exceeds my computer skills.

OK.....thought it was a blank off.

I use the same thing ....( Bunnings were getting rid of them for 95c incl. hoseclamp)...a million uses.

Agree with Grant...its a nice piece of work for sure....congrats.
