My old man worked for GMH ,at the pagewood plant in Sydney for 25 years,everytime he would come home when i was a kid,i would run up to him and give him a big hug,and he allways had this distinctive smell about him (must have been in his gmh overalls)..........and many years later,i remember sitting in a mates early holden,,,,,and it bought back the memories of the smell my old man brought home with him,it felt good to smell it again.............never smelt it in any other cars bar holdens and on the old man..............

All torries ive been in have "a wet carpet rotting underlay" smell, even after the leak has been fixed.

No doubt because the wet rotting carpet underlay is still under the carpet. It hard to get rid of those mildewy type smells in anything.All torries ive been in have "a wet carpet rotting underlay" smell, even after the leak has been fixed.

mines a mix of burnt oil, vinyl, and a bit of that wet rotting carpet smell, ahhh gotta love it *reminices*

One of my old XU-1 replicas had a really long daggy looking extension on the muffler, being a young hoon at the time, I removed the muffler and fitted a hot dog that ended just under the rear lower panel (its too late to try and remember what its proper name is) from then on I got fumes in the car especially when the window was down.
Another time on a trip interstate my mate nearly passed out from the fumes and we discovered the breather on the XU1 tank ran halfway around the inside of the boot and then exited just over the diff (I think) and our luggage had bumped it out of place causing the car to fill with fumes.
On the same trip I got sick of the air leaks from above the drivers door, I pulled over, wound the window down, put my knee on the door and pulled back on the upper door frame which promptly broke off !!!!
They don't make them like they used too !!!

All 7 Toranas I've had, all had different histories and all smelt the same. "SSNNNNNIIIIIFFFFFFFFF,....... AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH", Torana Smell, if only I could re-create it in the LoungeRoom,

My car has the Torana scent, I have had passengers in the past say "This car smells different, like car's used to smell like. The only thing that is still original in the interior is the Holden headlining. I put the smell down to this.

yea i reckon its the vinyl they used to use gtr torana,Toranas always smell like a mixture of the vinyl smell and fuel.Ive had 6 Toranas, all up 2 LJs 2 LCs 1UCSL/E 1UC hatchback and all have smelled the same.But i love it.

Nyuck NyuckI re-created that smell in the Lounge Room the same as I put in my car and my missus hunted me out and reckons I should use a wire brush

I've had the same car for 11 years and it still smells the same, VANILLARAMA.
The car has been off the road for the last 4 years and I last opened it up after 2 years, and yes it still smelt the same. That smell brings back some great memories. Mined you there has been the other odd odours in the car as well from time to time, burnt rubber and the tyre smell

The easiest way to create that is to use some of teh seats as a louge sweet. I have a EH front bench in mine for a lounge and teh louge room smells great. Wifie has nto worked out that this is teh two reasons I use it.All 7 Toranas I've had, all had different histories and all smelt the same. "SSNNNNNIIIIIFFFFFFFFF,....... 1. to have a EH seat as a lounge
and
2. to have the EH smell inside, that way if the day is dark and gloomy and rainign I can at least enjoy the EH smell in teh warmth of teh loungeroom..

Had about 6 LXs and 1 LH,all SLRs and all V8s and yeap you guessed it all had that special torana smell,better than any drugs

I've rebuilt my SS it still has that 70's smell which it nothing compared to my 1961 EK ute. Still has the original interior and the vinyl smell after 45 years. If only I could make my money last that long.

Mine smells of Avgas ,exhaust fumes ,melted wiring,burnt rubber and dogs vomit its unique and always gets a comment from passengers haha
