Hahaha. That reminds me.

Back last year, when it was registered, we were taking it out for a drive to the Dirt Circuit. Mum forgot her sunnies, so we pulled up out the front of home and I turned the radio on, fiddled a bit and found some music. A song ended, and on came on 'YMCA by the Village People'. I said - This is bullshit. I'm sitting in the middle of the Main Drag of Cowell, in my banged up Purple Torana, listening to the Village People. Which, I think, is when I decided that I needed more than an AM Radio.

Haha. We were still working out the finer points back when that pic was taken. We rode it around for 3 weeks without any brakes...

The Chopper (dubbed 'Oversteer') was my first one. In the background of the second pic, you can see my mate's Red Chopper. And also the back wheel of 'Goliath', the 20" frame that I converted to have 27" forks...

unfortunately the two trikes meet there enemy just a couple of weeks ago... mr angle grinder!! they are off to the scrap metal place now...

had good fun out in the shed mucking around with steel and the arc.

Alrighty. Bit of an update :spoton:

Take two semi-decent grilles -

Posted Image

Add a bit of elbow grease, and a bit of thinking and get one good grille!

Posted Image

Also been doing a bit of work on the rear quarter, it's almost finished now. I've used more filler than I wouldv'e liked, but it's clean metal underneath so I'm not really fussed.

Cheers, Tim

Good work Tim... wish i had the weekend to get some torrie stuff done :(

No one likes filler but its better then changing the whole 1/4 panel.

Whats the next plan of attack mate?

Haha, I changed the 1/4 panel as well... then filled over it. You can see here what we replaced...

Next on the list is to fix the lower nosecone. limo has cut me out a piece, hopefully I'll be able to sort it out next week :D

We're picking this beast up next week :spoton:

Has a pretty decent condition original black interior, look out for it in the For Sale forum soon :D

Will be giving up it's stub axles, taillights, 'coffee pot' (I think it's known as, the bit on the steering column on floor shift cars...) and a few other bits to the PP LJ :D

The piece we welded in fit pretty well. We should've tried to tap it out a bit before we started filling it, but it looked pretty good before we started filling. I didn't expect to have to use so much bog, although most of what you see in the above pic is only a smear. And I've still got a bit of sanding to do on it, especially at the bottom of the quarter.

Cheers, Tim

A little bit more progress today, I bought a wire brush drill bit today, works wonders on surface rust. Also got a bit of Wurth Rust Converter, and slapped a bit on any pitting etc on the inner gaurd, then primed and topcoated it with Killrust spray.

Also got the lower nosecone pretty straightened out, should have it welded in tomorrow.

Bit of a tip:
Stand well back and have a look at the "line" and maybe dummy fit the guard and bonnet before you start welding :spoton:
A panel beater I knew used to self tapper welded panels together first to make sure it was all going to fit.

Yeah I've got a few of the baby G clamps as well. They can hold a thicker job than the Vice-Grips can, and they don't hang out and get in the way like the Vice-Grips. But they're not quite as versatile. Best option is to have a few of every style for different jobs :P

Coming along great Tim, you're definately working quickly. Should look awesome with the guard and nosecone back on!
