Wish someone had told me to try doubling up on alternator tensioner as broke a few bottom brackets in gtr when it had wild 202 in it.

Many believe the 300 CK’s were responsible for the homologation of the XH cam, however it was the 200 3/71 & 4/71 LC XU-1’s responsible for the homologation of the XH cam. The CK XU-1 was the first production XU-1 fitted with it however……
Even though the baffled diff housing was homologated in 1970, the 1971 CK was also the first production XU-1 to receive it……

The baffled diff housing was NOT homologated in 1970.

Dealer Service Letters are NOT homologation documents. Only Forms for 'Evolution of Type' and 'Variant' and submitted to The CAMS or the FIA can be used to homologate parts.

This again says only 200 cars needed to be built.    And only 200 V8 XU1's were ever going to be built.    Either way.  Its a good read if your into cars, I guess .

but what if they wanted to add the sprintmasters to the 1972 LJ GTR XU-1 ? How many cars were required to fit the sprintmasters ? ( 2/2V )

and did’nt ammendment or homologation 5/5V in 1972 require 300 to complete by itself, just as the 1971 CK’s required 300 or the 300 Ford GT HO Phase III falcons or the 300+ 1971 E38 Chargers ?

Don't know..   But there was only ever gonna be 200 V8 XU1's built.  So too bad if they went onto 1973,  and needed changes for safety or reliability.    Did every  Amendment or Homologation or Evolution state 300 needed to be completed for every modification.    I can only ever see a need for 200 identical cars needed to be sold.  After that,   any fundamental changes for safety or reliability were treated as evolution changes.  not requiring anything else, other than to be ratified by the sanctioning body.   But as I said at the start.  I don't know.

provided they were going to homologate it with 1 gearbox & 1 diff ratio. They had all ready homologated the Detroit Locker earlier under ammendment 1/1V.

In 1973 they homologated the 2.78 & 3.90 diff ratio for the locker. Would have been ideal ratios for the V8 XU-1, though they would have needed to homologate the fine spline axels as well…..

In 1970 Holden homologated 2 diff ratios for the LC XU-1, the 3.36 & 3.08

What was the minimum number of cars required to homologate the 2 ratios ?
