I had one of these in my shed at one stage, a S1 though. I had a VN-VR V6 and T5 sitting in it. Fitted perfectly, even the stick came out of the factory Madza tunnel hole. Only trick I think was to use an auto body as the tunnel was bigger.

But in the end decided against it.

Smart enough to know that the morons are a minority, but I just dont get the bogan mob behaviour.

Burnouts do nothing for me. I used to be able to do one in my mums Sigma, so they arent that special.

But each to their own.

I haven't been for many, many years but a lot of it is about the atmosphere that you just don't get with a static car show.

 

Although, I reckon I enjoyed it more as a spectator than as an entrant, and I certainly saw more walking around than driving with just the same car in front of me lap after lap!

 

I'm still waiting to see a photo of Heath's hatch with some topless chicky babe hangin' out the sunroof! (Or don't they do that any more?)

Was the late 80’s for me when living in Wagga went several years in a row… I was also wondering where the topless girls & “Show us Ya Tits” signs were… Must have changed for Thu Mullets as a more family orientated look… Huge Thanks Rexy for posting all these pics one of my favourites has to be the “20 foot long” 59 Caddy as they’re awesome cars… I also don’t get how many spend hundreds of thousands on destroying nice cars with blowers & injection hats way above the roofline, Always better to keep it under the hood in my books… But that’s just my opinion, guess if you got it flaunt it, sky is the limit for some….

There are so many facets to this event and you would have to be dead from the neck down AND up to not find something of interest at the Nats if you are into cars.

Of all the images, that is the pick of the bunch in my opinion. The meanest, baddest factory US GM car. Not too many will outrun one of these, back then an LS6 was the king of the hill.

 

It almost my favourite because this IS my favourite.

I've been following the action on Youtube.

It's a bit difficult to deny the lunacy on Saturday night when so many are posting the content.

 

I'm concerned that this behavior might flow over to Rockynats. I really hope not! 

 

It's hard enough clipping the wings of 1 idiot , but when there's another 1000 in the crowd encouraging the behavior it becomes uncontrolled. 

 

I feel for the organisers.

I don't think the unbalanced sensationalistic postings to you tube should be taken as a fair and accurate measurement of anything.

 

The behaviour in general after 6pm is rougher than earlier in the day. Having said that, its no worse than that I have seen at many a licensed venue and considerably better than some of my old haunts.

 

The organisers are well practiced at behaviour management and very well prepared for all eventualities. They have forged strong links with and have a very good relationship with the police. The police maintain a strong on site presence.

 

Don't get sucked in by the ACA type sensationalistic beat up.

There aren’t too many people who can do absolutely everything in a car build - Heath being a topical exception. The rest of us have to pay to get stuff done to a varying degree.
