I just received a phone call from a very distressed friend who is spectating at targa west. Peter Brock was driving the orange HQ monaro and has slid off the track and hitting quite a few trees. One has pierced the door and struck the driver killing him.

Still waiting on some more details but the announcer at the event has announced that the accident has killed him.

Mod Edited title: Please keep to one thread regarding this tragic moment.

I seriously hope this is a very sick joke because I just don't think I could cope if my 2 heroes die in the same week.

According to this Peter Brock is driving a Daytona coupe, and an orange HQ coupe is being driven by a Steve Coad???

The Orange HQ passed me on the way to work this morning, didn't look like Brock behind the wheel, mind you I didn't get a proper look at the driver.

Like sting rays, motor racing is dangerous. Do not underestimate the risks, and respect the conditions/vehicle at all times.
