most tough v8s will last for years and years if treated right

But at the end of a day anything built for racing (or that is treated like crap) will not last that long.

How pre-homo sapien do ya wanna get?
The Holden/Chev V8 isnt the be all and end all of engines, Chevy. Broaden your spectrum a bit, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised...
EDIT: Spelling. Makin' myself look pre-homo sapien. haha.
EDIT: Did it again. haha.

the turbocharged systems as most people know work best at higher rpms and no engine loves reving at high rpms its a fact
the best way to do it is have lots of low down torque with say a supercharged v8 which doesnt have to rev to get flying
meanwhile while your reving the absoulute out of your 6 to get this tourque the engine is going that fast its almost at its point of fuel cutting out and meantime the tourque curve has been and gone (for those who know all about the toiurque vs revs graph)
an engine is bassically based on torque and whatever can get the best lowdown torque would be the better engine most of the time
and a engine with more displacement will get torque quicker
i do like the turbo 6s in the toranas etc but give me a v8 anyday

That directly relates to the size of the turbo mate. Another over-generalization.the turbocharged systems as most people know work best at higher rpms and no engine loves reving at high rpms its a fact

Turbos look a bit messy mounted on the side and pipes everywhere.
One makes whiney noises.
One makes sucking noises.
I still like skylines and stuff though. =p

I spose Centrifugal blowers give you that too.
But, when you think about it, The turbo is more than just a power source. It's amazing how economical Turbo's are.

On a track I'd prefer the modern turbo car. Loves the high revs, won't have to fill up till the END of the track day, probably won't break anything. Can still drive home. They're just as fast.
