What was the incident that you guys were refering to??

I saw on the news tonight about a ute that went into the crowd of a car show, but it didn't state what car show it was though. was it the nats?

The Grey/Charcoal LX Torana in the second set of toranavistas pics is one of my all time favourites. Everything looks just right I reckon. I saw it at Summernats 17 when I was over there,

WITHOUT PREJUDICE

The Supercruise accident was a C.A.P.A vehicle as shown on the news. I heard the following from my son, it may or may not be correct as he got it second hand. The car was doing a drift demo just after the official cruise ended. The driver was new to CAPA and it was supposedly his first attempt at drifting.... Apparantly if the story is right the $hit is hitting the fan.
Dont blame me if some of the facts as stated here are wrong, this is at least 3rd hand now.

Cheers

Just got back from the nats and I'm BUGGERED after a very long four days! I took well over 1000 piccies but nearly all are Commodores (for work). If I get time later on I'll sift through and grab some Torana pics resize and post 'em up.

The accident was the yellow CAPA ute which collided with the fence injuring some people, most relatively minor excpt for the young boy. I was on the oval at the time and while it was a very unfortunate thing to have happened it was blown a little out of proportion by the mainstream media. They're always fairly quick to engage in a little rev head bashing.

Also got some unreal shots of TRYHRD on fire in the cage, it ran 1230 odd hp and won, but in the process a fuel leak caused a masive fire which caused a bit of damage, Craig Munro was stoked nonetheless. Trick and Mansweto cracked the 1000hp barrier in their n/a Capri which was an awesome achievement, they were pretty wired! But yeah, despite the well publicised incidents it was a good event, as always...

Cheers,
Andrew

Nasty cut on his head. One lady got a broken leg, and another guy had a sore wrist (you get that when your gay).

There's heaps of conflicting reports out there in the media (how unusual...NOT).

On a more serious note, with Canberra being Canberra, the accident, along with the one after (In the Canberra Times - I presume the guy rolling the car in mid-air landing on his roof) that has provided automatic ammunition for the anti-dragway dudes.

Makes sense to me, because there's an accident at Summernats means No Dragway??? That's Canberra for you.

ya get that everywhere yella, our usual meeting place was signposted no parking between 9pm - 6am which screwed us all over, we had our own little community there and if a youngin stuffed up the elders stepped in and guarenteed it wouldnt happen again, now the youngins are thrashing cars up residentials streets, more accidents happening and the coppers are having a hard time catching everyone, should of left it the way it was, out of the road, behaving ourselves. anyone wanted a run it waited till the next morning in daylight on a unused road with 5-6 cars in attendance to keep an eye on things and to transport/tow anyone who needed it.

Not grose, you basically see the car drifting round with another car on the inside, the capa ute's driver overlocked the wheel during the slide and the tail kicked the other way forcing the ute into the fence. There is no footage of the hurt people and theres alot of yelling, laughing and such that you cant hear anything from them either.

Oh well, the pots about to be stirred once again.....

I always knew you guys spoke funny over there. :tease:

Over here we call them fish and chips. And for future reference there are no Gay Kiwis. We sent the last one over the ditch sometime late last year. He went to the Sydney Mardi Gras and we never let him back in.

hahahahahahahaha, dream on.

1000HP, a driver that obviously doesn't know his limits and a dirt road just don't mix. Those CAPA guys are crazy even on a decent sealed surface.

Sorry for being insensitive, but why the hell would you have such a young kid so close to the track? FFS Even at Springnats I was sitting there with the R31s and S15s drifting pass me shitting myself (okay i didn't have a barrier but it doesn't make much difference if the barrier is shit like it was at Summernats), if I was that young I would have been deafened and terrified at the same time, it's not the place for such a young kid; take them a distance away from the track and have a squiz.

I dont know the truth behind this but i heard he was a new driver and this was apparently his first attmpt at either driving that car, or drifting. I cant see it as being his first time drifitng coz they wouldnt have let him loose but he sure has some explaining to do. But i agree with Heath, such a young kid right next to the track is just crazy. Im not saying families shouldnt enjoy the show like everyone else but they should take more precaution or the organisers should have a certain area for them like a grand stand.
