I know this Torry. It's an amazing car.

Just before Christmas, I stopped to have a chat to the owner on my way to Brissy from Toowoomba. He owns Torque is Cheap at Gatton; on the highway.

He's just put in a new blown 502 c.i.d Chev big block. He used to have a 454 in it and apparently ran tens. He was looking to break into the nines with it. I hope he gets it back in one piece!

I hope he at least had the car insured for what he has spent on it!

At one stage he was following me doing laps at the Nats that is until the security staff pulled him over for doing excessive burnouts. I didnt see him after that on the Saturday.

No worries, anither time perhaps.

On the Staurday I became very dehydrated, so much infact that I felt really ill.
I went and sat in the Tuff Street Cafe for a couple of hours drinking their bottled ice cold water.

One good thing came of it, whilst there the Summernats girls came in for lunch, picked me up no end lol I did leave feeling refreshed though.

Cheers

Whats the alcohol/idiot situation like at the nats? I haven't been since Nats 14 and am planning a return next year with a fresh car. Is it still the same, the cruise track a no go zone after dark?

The idiot/alcohol ratio has not improved at all, for me the latest time to do was laps was prior to 3:00pm after that it was sheer hell.

As an example when I left immediately after the Supercruise on Sat night the crowd was that bad that the Security Staff could not handle them, I kid you not when a group of 10 security staff stopped me and asked me to run over some toes to keep the idiots back.

Did I oblige?? well lets say I didnt get any toes but but the idiots sure jumped back out of the way :) It's rather tiring owning a Torana when every dickhead and his dog yells out "Do a burnout" whetehr at the Nats or not, I am thinking of selling my car.....

Its such a pitty the idiots tarnish such a great event. I have been 5 times, and I will go again, but I refuse to bring my Mrs. She will not handle the constant torment, so i will leave her at home.

Last time I camped and parked the car late afternoon and had no porblems. I suppose it helps when the crowd like your car. Id hate to attempt a lap in a ricer.

I have all my 301 pics finally loaded on my comp, I just have to resize and delete plates and upload them onto photobucket.
there are still plenty of idiots there, but at least I didn't see anyone trying to lift the guards of any cars.
lapping in a ricer? you shoulda seen the amount of shit they copped!

i went this year for the first time had a great time no real probs most people were quite good if you got bumped into most people would apoligise, but come saturday arvo the pissheads were out in force and it just got worse as the day went on into the night.
i noticed people walking around drinking well before lunchtime no wonder they were smashed by 4oclock and even worse later up near th VB V8 bar was one of the worse areas around 7oclock onwards it was crazy the road was pretty much blocked off by the crowd and you wouldnt be let through till you smoked it up,there was nothing security could do there was just too many people it would have turned into a massive brawl if they intervened.

why they have to sell alcohol so early in the day i cannot understand if they opened the bars around 5-6oclock pm it would have been alot better, people would still get smashed but much later which would give guys more time to cruize before it gets out of hand.
it would be better for familys too.a couple of my mates had cars there from W.A
they stoped cruizing by 2oclock fearing their cars might get damaged,it was all good till the alcohol got involved then there was thousands of rude wannabe heros.

i will go back in 2 years with my car as i still had a great time, but if its still the same on sat arvo & night i would rather take my chances with the coppers and cruize in town instead, its a shame when you are at a car event and you worrie about your car being safe after all it should be one of the safest places for it.(bloody pissheads as usual the minority spoil it for the majority)
