No , not deleting them, they were off for modifying. Going to changer those rocker covers out with stock ones though.

Forgot to mention, some header mods, to work in with the webers.

Would that be those nuts welded to pipes for O2 sensors or going EGT?

We need more pics bigger size lol.

Baron sometimes i think you blow these pics up and go over them with a magnifying glass.

This is the third pic of mine that you have commented on regarding a minor detail picked up. :D

Good work sherlock, they are for the o2 sensors to assist us by balancing each throat individually to the cylinder.
Might unlock half a horse in there somewhere.

Just for you, 'cos i know you are interested, we have lined up a number of variables to play with and are just waiting on some phenolic spacers to turn up.

Might even have to make some. We are looking for at least a 2 inch lift apparently !

And while i have you, you made a comment earlier about my apparent car control. Tarmac magazine has a great shot of the old girl during prologue just gone.
I thought of your comment when i saw it this morning. I remember being very busy !!

I'll get some new pics as we load the lump back in the old girl.

Have a great christmas mate.

I made up some teflon gaskets for DCOE45 about 12 years ago from 3-4mm teflon sheet and they are still going today and dont look any different from new benefits are they insulate from manifold heat and you never have to scrape gaskets off again as they just peel off and can be reused saves money on gaskets long term.

Ram tube length is another thing to play with and i would probably cut a set and use hose to make them adjustable for length till you figure out what length gives best compromise.

Are you buying something to monitor all 8 O2 sensors at once or getting something made?

I saw the Targa highlights on TV very difficult conditions early on tyre selection probably didnt make it any easier the car looked good.
Those 911's who are the enemy are not your garden variety 911 lol.

Merry christmas and happy new year.

Bit of an update as there is a thread or 2 on spacers and such.

The engine is back in after her little refresh, ended up with some new rings, number 8 had cracked one. No damage though, but that explained all the oil breathing.

We are on the dyno all week, playing with spacer height and ram tube length, as well as jets. Its a long process as whe are doing each cyl individually.

Have located a single block of phenolic resin, so we are trialling all the spacers in marine ply that has been soaked in epoxy. This way we can finetune the thickness before machining the plastic. It eats drill bits and saw blades like no tomorrow.

Had a rev run this afternoon, dyno showing 297 hp at the rears.
Plenty of fiddling left, but she will be on the road next week for sure.

Oh, 530 Nm of torque :spoton:

Those are pretty respectable figures there, I would be very happy with those numbers

But the big question, are you retiring her yet or one more Targa.

You don't spend all that money on a freshen up to watch the spiders make a web around it in the shed

agree with datto on that.
thats an awesome torque figure at the treads. many an n/a ls1 would struggle to get that number.
if its running than you can get to the ace ford club cruise, open to everyone. mumbo and I are going.

Enders, no, couldn't get enough, but we are as tall as we can get without now altering the bonnet or scoop. Just on 100 mm

I had to cry enough.

Can't bring myself to take a saw to the old girl.

But yeah, she screams.

Get a gander at that cloud of fuel that sits above the trumpets!

Datto, its fat allright.

Fatslr, yes i have numbers, no i'm not sharing.

However, we had trouble getting it to grip on the rollers, which is why the young bloke jumped in the boot.
Last dyno run we had both apprentices in the boot, and at 5100 rpm she just spins the tyres on the dyno.

If it wasn't so funny i'd be dirty on wearing away half a top quality rubber donut

Gots to drives her now

Mwahahahaha :burnout:

I just love this car, I have just been thru watching your youtube clips and the way it pulls acceleratiing out of the corners, no wonder the competition think you have 600hp, must be great fun as a road car, thansk for sharing

it looks like it lacks a bit of torque and it has too much reversion in the intake, it takes too long to pull to peak revs on the dyno. id say around 300-320 @wheels.
last 308 i did made 368 @ wheels and 610nm tq, it ramped up much quicker on the dyno, id be looking at the camshaft design!

Thanks Cruiza

Makes it all worth while.

Hi Paul, the engine was built in melbourne by some old guy, so you might be right, it may need some extra work

the engine was built to provide lo torque and max rev 6500. the brief was to make it pull hard out of 90 degree corners and not need a rebuild every year.

The engine builder did not recomend that i use webers , and it was originally built with a performer manifold and a quaddy.

the recent works were to fix a breathing issue (broken ring) and to individually tune each throat to each cylinder.

Engine originally produced 435 hp at the fly wheel.

As an old bloke myself, i don't need too much. But thanks for your suggestions, i'll pass them along to the old bloke, he may be able to use them.

Now where did i put Ian Tate's number ???
