That F40 would have been 400k

Not an F40, it was a Ford GT40..... I don't know if it was genuine or replica, I was to young to care, it just looked cool.

Was searching through my old Street Machine mag collection for some info on a completely different subject and came across the following artical in the Dec 88 issue.
Thought you would like to see it, enjoy.
Sorry for the large size but wanted it to be easy to read.
Paul
P.S. the title reads LIONHEART, damn hard to get the text across the mag seam.

I remember seeing a white Giocattolo going North across the Sydney Harbour bridge in the late 80's when I was on my way to uni in a train once (going South). I was with some friends and we all saw it. We were into Italian cars and had read about the cars, seeing as they were based on the Alfa Sprint chassis. It looked so cool and really stood out from everything else on the road. I suppose it was one its way back to the Toy Shop in North Sydney. Perhaps Mondie's car is the one I saw - how many white ones are there?
I have also seen the yellow one mentioned earlier that was owned by the Fox Antiques guy in Canberra some time ago. He brought it along to at least one of the Auto Italia car days. These cars are amazing to see up close.
By the way, Leakey mentioned not owning a Torana but had spotted a Fiat 124 AC for $600. Could be a good buy. I also don't own a Torana - yet, but have decided to get into one, initially wanting an LC or LJ 2 door but now a hatch. Ignore my username (anyone know how to change it??). I do actually have a 2 door hatch, but it is of the Italian variety - my current project is a 78 Lancia Beta HPE, if anyone knows these. I have to finish and sell this project car before I can move onto my first Torana and the way it is going, it will be some months before the Lancia is on the road and I can do this. Clearly I like hatches. I figured I should try to get one before it is too late and I can't afford even a base model LX hatch.
Not the right forum really, but not totally off topic either - if anyone wants a "cheap" mid-engined Italian sports car and can't afford a Giocattolo, there is a Lancia Beta Montecarlo for sale on eBay at the moment - $10k or so. Google the Montecarlo derivative, the 037 Rallye, also.

It was most likely my car you saw, its been a Sydney resident all its life up until a month ago. There were 5 white cars made but mine was the only one with gunmetal coloured B45's l believe.
Cheers Mondie

Quite likely then. I don't recall whether it had B45's - it was nearly 20 years ago and we didn't see it for very long...and it was moving, but I can still see the back end of it clearly in my mind.
I can only imagine how much you love owning it.
Cheers,
James
