Yes Mick, a standard LX Torana towbar will fit. Very average though, not real good for towing anything heavy.

Agree with REDA9X, the standard tow bars are bloody ugly the way they hang down under the car.

The best fitting kits are Hayman Reece ones, tight fitting under the back of the car and definitely higher load rated.

You can also turn the tongue over to save minor taps in the back, see mine below.

Not a bad spot to hang the forum sticker as well! :D

here is a factory towbar. From memory it was 1200kg with 90kg download. Doesn't stand out as much as the haymen reese one.

Posted Image

heres an A9X with factory air fitted. This car is the ONE exception to the rule. It was fitted inside the factory , after hours by the original owner and the factory production manager. The car wasn't a production A9X either, it was a GMP&A shell.

Posted Image

above is factory air in an SS with a VK aircleaner fitted . A much better fit. Note the black car posted earlier has had the condensor changed at some stage but still has the correct LHS tappet cover..

Missed my point! The Hayman Reece one only hangs out the back a bit with the tounge on, "but it hugs the beaver panel".

My Reece one is behind the bumper without the tounge.

Their are the ones that you see on lot's of LH's, X's & UC's that angle down from both sides to the center.
These are the ones i was refering too when i said ugly and was comparing.

Actually, my factory tow bar didn't stick out much either, if you removed the tongue, you barely noticed it was there. Like yours it was well behind the bumper but it sat flat. The tongue had the threads in it and the bolts went from the bottom up. And the black engine bay isn't an A9X, look at the master cylinder as an example.

Thats exactly what I was looking at Red

Funny that

Also funny there was a black "A9X" in a magazine I read recently that had the wrong booster/master on it too
It was an 80's mag..... I guess back then they thought everything was an A9X..... sells mags I guess

I'd have to find the article again
It was in an old Torana mag I read at Tinkers place one day when I was waiting for her to do something (get ready to go out, change clothes for the 4th time, cook a mean.....something)
I just recall them going on about it being an A9X but it didn't have the brakes

Glad PB sorted you out in the end

Bit hard on Tinks mate.

You should be cooking and telling her what looks best, NO?

I am also getting new lines made as the originals are corroded and worn. Pity they will be gold-ish as the originals lines are silver-ish. But whilst originality is best for resale, practicality and safety will come first as this thing is NOT for sale.

Cheers

We don't live together
She doesn't like my cooking
It has taste

Pipes can still be had in silver steel look
Years ago they deleted the lead from piping and they went to a copper coating for corrosion protection
There is even some green stuff out there..... some people like it
But you can still get the silver
Its nice to work with too.... easy to bend and flare
I don't have any yet... as the shop is still a few weeks away...... but I will have it soon
Nuts are goldy cad though

Sorry have to disagree, the torrie bars are the same style as holden fitted to all of the cars up to the early 80s since fact tbars were fitted in the late 60's. They look like they belong to me,if one removes the tongue as they should, they are barely noticed. The tongue is good protection against people getting too close when parking......they dont want to mess with it......however, they are a pain in the shin when you hit them walking(or running) past......I do believe all tow bar extensions are illegal to be left on the car if they extend from the body work...whether they obscure the number plate or not.

Centre vent is factory air, adjustable left and right and up and down and the console is standard SS.

I remember that article on the so called Black A9X, number plate was NSW ACEA9X. I was looking at it just the other day, didn't even have the bonnet scoop.
