All 304 kilowatts shat themselves in practise today. 5 laps. Not sure but we think we have thrown a ring. You should have seen the smoke. Even the fire brigade came running. Engine OK (not destroyed and still running) but this weekend is over for Yella. I shall be there spectating now. Not happy. Hope to see plenty of you there. I will be the one with the miserable look on his face. And the red socks of course.
Seeing as the wife thinks it was only $1100...that only means another $1100 to fix it..Yes?????
Dont hand over that cheque yet...but make sure he gets the bill for the bottle 72 Grange you guys planned this over.

You're having fun now...stop complaining!!! It could be worse...you could own a boat..Frank Matich told me BOAT stands for..Bring Over Another Thousand!!Had the engine rebuilt in Yella. Prompted by some oil pressure concerns I had. Anyway, stroked to 355, new heads, oversize valves gated sump, roller rockers, flat top pistons, Chev con rods, etc. etc. etc. 408 hp at the flywheel and 588 NM torque between 3200 and 5000 rpm - dynoed on Wednesday, in the car Thursday and shat itself Friday. Can someone tell me when I am having fun.

I was there on Saturday - usual good turn out of cars & exotica.
A bit of carnage in the torana ranks with the ex Grice A9X coming to greef in qualifying session. Most consistent torana steerers were Steve Perrot in ex O'Brien/ Wigston A9X in Group A & C cat. - creditable 3 placings from memory and Ray Challis Vic. and John Harrison NSW XU1s in group Nc - but they were struggling against Camaros and Mustangs. I took some pics in the pits which I will send to you to post up shortly.
Couple of interesting cars on display in the pit paddock -
A recently restored L31 SS in orange paint - very fine car.
A glacier white LJ XU-1 with roll cage - SA rego - White engine Bay ??? with Bondy and the Fox's grafitti there abouts - missing 2 tags but had this strange body I/D tag on the scuttle where the ADR tag is normally ???
Anyway I guessed it was Dazza's charriot ( ex Bond 72 car ) - shame he didn't have a display board describing the history. I took some pics of it and waited around to say g'day but he must have been stuck in the bar. - It looks good Dazza - Wolf in a lounge suit ?
Cheers JR
