Well finally settled in new house , got some annual leave, and borrowed a mig fron a mate(all the moons lined up ) so some motor vation to do some work
Step 1 make a cheep rotisery see pic
Posted Image
I used the bumper bar mounts and bolted a piece of RHS to them and bolted the engine stand to it , check the pics , saves me typin this crap...
Posted Image
then i used the engine gantry that i made a couple of years ago at the front..
Posted Image
Posted Image
Ive welded the holes in the engine bay and cut the only rust a 20cent sized hole in the d/s rear quarter

Being able to rotate it makes it SO MUCH EASERY

Now ive been checking books and sites on engine bays and ive seen the "gap" here smooth and i want to know if there is a "flexable" filler that can be painted or have these people have used good old fashioned BOG and rubbed it back..

Try Sikaflex, or something of the sorts like Wurths KD bond + seal.

Is flexible, and with a bit of practice you can put it in very smooth, and is slightly sandable.

Tip, spit on your finger before wiping it in...works a treat...

Cheers.

What you have to watch for when welding the engine bay is that nothing distorts. When you put the car on its wheels everything sits in a different spot (things flex). What you might want to do which may be a bit of a pain is get the car on its wheels, hang the panels and get the gaps right and then weld the engine bay up. Been there, done that, just a thought.
