Hi

thought I would give you a bit of a "sneak peak" at some of the gear that we are getting for the dinner..

The first is the table flag set.
Posted Image

These are the banners that will hang at the venue.. A few of these will be signed and auctioned and raffled. A set will also be auctioned at Toranafest for those that don't make the dinner..

Thanks must go to Harry and Mike Harbar for their permission in allowing us to use the drawings..

it's certainly shaping up to be a great night!!

cheers
Mick

Just make sure you go to the dinner to find out.

The $99 should be well worth it for some.

Pity I can't get down this year.

Grant..

G'day Mick

Do you know if the tickets will be able to be kept instead of handing them in at the door as they are something I would like to keep as a momento of what is shaping up to be a great night :spoton:

It would have to be the best looking ticket I have had from any event :spoton:

Well done to the organisers

Yes Barry

You will be able to keep your tickets. The reason for people needing to bring them is as proof of purchase. They will not be taken off anyone.

cheers
Mick

PS should pick up that stripe for you this week..

Thanks for that Mick :spoton:

Looks like me and the missus will be going over to the Ganmain Show on Saturday but if it is not here beforehand then no probs as the car still looks good with those other jobs I have had done :D

Will be travelling over there with some of my Cootamundra Antique Car Club members and unfortunately the lead car will probably be John's V-dub

Oh well, I should at least get better fuel consumption at that speed :spoton:

Harry's "Firthday" ticket will look good with some pics of Toranafest framed and mounted on the wall

Regards .................. Barry

G'day all

I thought that I would bring you all up to date with regards the Dinner and what is happening.

One thing that I have learnt through all the organising of this event is to stay flexible. In organising the dinner it became very clear that to have a great night we would need great Audio/ Visual on the night. The only problem is that this was always going to be costly. About $8 - 10 grand costly!! When you look at the cost of all the other items associated with the dinner, we were seriously looking at going into the red!! Now for a dinner that is supposed to be raising money for a charity, that's not real good...

I attended a meeting yesterday at the Newcastle Jockey Club that included, Ronald McDonald House, the Newcastle Jockey Club, the A/V guy and myself. With the current numbers for the dinner being at 220, we needed to seriously look at our options. Once we got talking to the NJC, they mentioned that another function room would be available as an option. The only thing is that it is limited to 300 guests.

When we looked at the current numbers, and looking at only 4 weeks to go we had to make a decision. Our options were;

Option 1: GlasshouseLarger room that is suited to functions of 450 plus,
A/V Required. One or two screens maximum.
Stage required
Lighting required
Sound required
Non Air Conditioned.
Cost of approx $5000 - $8000 for A/V, Lighting, Stage, etc

Option 2: Function RoomSuited to functions up to 300
A/V already installed. Approx 22 monitors positioned throughout the room.
No Stage required
Minimal extra lighting required
Sound not required for A/V..
Air Conditioned
Complete view of the race course
A more intimate venue for the dinner.

So with the above outlined we have made the decision to go with Option 2.

So what does that mean to those that are coming?
Nothing really. Everything else that we have planned for the Dinner remains unchanged. We will still have all the happenings that we have planned, and I believe that it will make for a more intimate evening which will make for a truely memorable night.

So some of you might be asking why mention it if nothing has really changed?? The main reason is to let people know that there is only 80 tickets left and therefore if you snooze, you could lose..

feel free to ask me any questions

cheers
Mick

Torana got defected last week, which resulted in the discovery of structual rust, car requires sills, bottom front window frames replaced, so car is now for sale, looking to purchase something much newer as daily. If i can't sell it for a somewhat reasonable price I will need to strip, repair, respray the whole car in under 6 weeks so will be working on it by then, if I do sell it the last thing I will feel like doing is looking at other peoples Toranas if i have just sold my baby.
