October 2011.....

Wow... Time has flown!

Lots been happening, None of which i want to write about here BUT...

Long story VERY short... the car is in with EZE10s to get a new gearbox!
We're tossing up a few options, but it's going to be one tough mutha! - I wont be neededing to worry about breaking it anytime soon!

We decided to go through the front end ( Thanks Neil!) and replace all bushes with Rubber, New ball joints, rebuild teh steering box.. just get it done... Hopefully the car will be a bit more drivable after all this!

We were concerned that we'll be on the verge of breaking the diff... so that *MIGHT* just get a going over too...

Hopefully all this is done for the drag day.... the car should be about right then! Just the body / paint lets it down after that!!

Anyway... Stay tuned.. hopefully there will be some more times posted soon :)

Well Well Well.... Doesnt time fly!

THe drag day has long been and gone ( and nope... the car was nowhere NEAR ready!) BUT!

We got it home and took it for it's maiden voyage today to the MODE club meeting then out to catch up with a mate and then home.

All i can say is WOW... Why did i not do this sooner! - I shal explain!

The gearbox is now a PROTRANS Unit - Thanks Fred! - Full manual street/strip box - Feels quite nice and positive!
The new diff from Gearex - Jason McGrath is tough as nails - All the good gear including 31 spline billets, True Trac Centre, new gears, new housing, Stange aluminium pinion support, new carrier you name it... Should NEVER give me another hassle!

The engine got some new valve springs as the old ones had sagged a fair bit - but that's ALL we did to the donk!

New Suspension bushes all around (Rubber! WHEW!), new breather system, new braided lines front to back..... We're getting there now!

But my favourite part - Power Steer!
And the best bit is we used an Electric power steering pump! No ugly pump and belts hanging off the engine and cluttering the bay, but neatly plumbed in the boot with the lines down the chassis... Bewdiful!
The car has never driven so nicely.. and turned so well... no damn spool and the steering is now 1 turn lock to lock not 20!!

Honestly... I wonder why i didnt do this earlier.. all of the above mods has honestly made the car so drivable and comfortable it's now cool to cruise again!

Hopefully get it down the blacktop dyno again soon... I dont think we're going to pick up much down the 1/4 (as we didnt do ANY speed mods!) but it'll be much nicer cruising it there!

Cheers :)

Woohooo. Lets go racing!!!

As you should know Rob, its not just power from the engine that gets you 11sec timeslips. Its all about the combination that puts the power to the ground. Id like to think with the new box and diff setup, there is some improvement cause you need to catch Dad lol.

Hey Tiny, besides the power steering, have you really noticed a huge difference by swapping from the spool to the Tru-Trac centre? I'm seriously considering doing the same in my machine. Have you had a chance to give it a hard time yet - if so, how does the Tru-Trac react?

Hey Guys!

Mitch - Lock it in!! 14th :) We'll be there with bells on.. cant wait!!

Gday Brett! Mate honestly i havent given it a hard time to really feel it! - The car handles driving around and parking like a NORMAL CAR!! Love it!! (I hated that friggen spool!), I havent hammered it to see what happens when you stand on it, but i can feel it with what feels like a bit of backlash, I think it;s sort of "locking and unlocking"... but i'm yet to test it! Will report back on the 15th!

Rob: Rubber FTW... Man.. i cannot believe how HARSH nolathane is! Why the hell we ever did it i'll never know! Rubber DEFINITELY rules!

Lee: See ya on the 14th dude! Would love to catch up mate!

Andrew: Likewise! 14th?? - This sounds like a top night! :))

Terry: Yeah lots of money spent for no power gain, but honestly.. best money spent!!

Thanks Ryan, Its really nice to drive now hey.. not as fatiguing! Honestly.. it was getting a bit crazy to drive but now it feels really good!

I'll grab some photos of the steering setup as soon as i can, but honestly.... when you see what it is.. SO EASY! why i didnt do it earlier has me stuffed! what a massive difference!
I'm wrapped with it at the moment... I dont think i'm going to run much quicker, but it'll be nice to see if/what it does!

Cheers :)

Well time really has gone quickly!

March saw us finally take the car racing and yep she ran well!
A couple of 12s with wheel spin, then a few really nice passes! 11.6, 11.6, 11.57@116!
FINALLY!

Since then we really haven't done much, a couple of cruises, all Holden day and that's about it!

We got a nice note from a mate who also mentioned another first for the car!
The car was shot back in 2011, and it features in extreme Holden's on sale this month! I'm pretty chuffed!'
