Whats your opinion on the The Yeppoon car even still being the original shell? Is there anything even left from 1984? I understand lots of things in race cars get replaced but firewall looks very iffy in it. Even restored V8 supertaxis keep or get some original motors and parts returned.

Personally I doubt theres much left of it. Originally it was supposed to have been pretty original, then I heard it had taken some very big hits while in the UK and the original doors were all hole sawed to lighten the car. Thats just what I heard though, so pure speculation.

Pretty easy to do that Al based on clear evidence against 3 people with their own self interests saying 05 is in QLD.

I am amazed A.M.C Magazine even did a story on the subject, brave of them for sure. And I have worked out which car is which the sad thing is No. 25 Car is a special car as well, shame it might be hidden as 05 forever now

They have had the evidence on this one for a long time, it was just never going to go to print while Brock was alive, especially after the letter he wrote to AMC. Thats actually the only part of what Bev said that I agree with is that he hand wrote the letter and her wouldn't let her change anything in it, if he did it wouldn't have had to have been so heavily edited by AMC at the time. I was shocked when I read the original.

Just goes to prove you can't believe everyones memories, even someone like Brock.

That is a pity Al, are they (the article) saying the owner/s (the Champions) won't turn it back to 25 because they reject the evidence?

Cheers, TB

If amc have known for a long time...
Wouldnt they be double dipping as didnt they do a feature on the champion car promoting it as the 05 car... Or was amc like the old homeless dude in "something about mary" they were banging champo to get closer to 05. Lol

AMC Never promoted the Champion car as the real 05. If you read the original article carefully they danced around that subject deliberately. The only suggestion of which was which was a letter written by Brock in the letters section.

No, if you read the story, it's clear the 05 chassis is in Bathurst, and on the other hand you have three people arguing it's in QLD. It's clear 05 has always been in bathurst.

Its always been in the museum its just that certain people believe that's its in qld ,before the car was restored you could match mark for mark on the photo taken while racing at Bathurst to the car on the floor.

It says how I read it, that AMC say the Car they believe is 05 is in the Museum, well the Shell arrived at the Bathurst Museum less running gear, but the other party say they have 05 as well, like I said if that is how it's put, then both will stay as 05 ???, So 25 will be a 05 until the party that has 25 decide to make it 25 and it seems that won't happen.

I've been pushing it for a long time because I've known all along, and I know more than was revealed in that story, including the truth about the log books which I won't comment more on out of respect to the person who had them. I also know all this evidence was around before Brock wrote his letter to AMC. The other thing is I don't like cars being displayed as something they are not. Everyone gets caught out eventually.

I think the whole thing is disrespectful to John Harvey and David Parsons, and now that it's being perpetuated despite the clear evidence, it's also disrepectful to Brock who clearly made a mistake, but the way Mort, Bev and Peter are continuing it, it makes Brock look like he was out to deceive everyone.

You have to ask one simple question. Why did Brock (if the Bathurst car is 25) send it to the museum painted as 05 and specifically instruct the museum not to display it as 05? Why when he was photographed with Perkins and the car a few years later didn't he tell the museum  to change its identity? Why from the time it was dropped off in 1985 (and brought back to his workshops at some point), to the point where he supposedly saw the car in the UK didn't he say anything to the museum? He had plenty of opportunity to do so. As Lewis said also, despite repeated requests, Peter never signed a letter of authenticity for that car in QLD. Both Phil and Lewis even say the Bathurst car is the 05 car, thats got to tell you something.
