and im making more power with it than people who have worked fuel injected 202's (101.3rwkW max @ 5800rpm)...

didn't the VK efi make 109 kw standard? and much earlier in the rev range too?

Lol, thanks! But my power figure isnt what im trying to show off, im trying to explain that i did it with a 350 Holley, and people who have worked fuel injected red/black/whatever motors are not getting as much! Not bragging, but merely explaining that the 350 Holley IS good for somethin!!

Now ill take a breather!
Cheers fellas :)

yes you are making that power with a carby, thats the engine more than the carby ... i would almost bet my left nut that efi on your motor would make more power again over the carby too :)

Is there any way to get efi working on the RED head? Its just that I have 2 of these heads which have had a lot of money spent on them.

Maybe center port injection off an EA falcon? Buy a 2bbl manifold, bolt on the injection carb fit the puter and accesories?

if you want to use the read head you might be able to do it with a bit of custom manifold work ... you could use the VK manifold and probably modify the ports to be the right size for your head, or you could adapt a carby manifold to have injectors in it etc ....

put simply, theres no easy way to do it with a red head ....

Would you want to use the red head?? No way. 9ports vs 12ports... You would have power losses compared to the blue/black head! If you can get a blue/black head on your motor - do it! Easy power and less stuffing around!

Multipont on a 9 port head is not a good idea.

Have a read of this if you wanna know why.

It can be done with a sequential injection setup.. but would be very dificult to get right and may cost a small fortune. The other option is to use 3 injectors and keep them a long way from the ports or to use a TBI setup

It would be cheaper to buy a new 12 port head and get that running on injection, rather than trying to get a 9 port head running injection.

just bolt on a set of 150 strombergs and have em tuned
you'll gain heaps of power and use less fuel :spoton:

Likw I said the head I have has over $3000 worth of machine and flow work done on it so Im not just guna switch to a blue/black head and doubt if a standard one will flow anything near the head I have. I have read that Simese port problem document before but its the only mention of something like that that I have ever read which is the reason why I re asked the question. Not having that sort of in depth mechanical knowledge on camshafts and timing made my understanding of it limited anyway. Im just sure I have seen it done over the years on other motors. The only thing I have seen that states it is a problem is that document. The Kalmaker website mentions a sequential option on 1 of there upgrades on the Holden computers so that wouldnt be that expensive

Spend a bit of time google' ing and you'll no doubt find a few people who've tried and failed.

Yes, it i think it could be done with a VS V6 setup and Workshop modules from Kalmaker. If you really want to follow that path, see if you can have a chat with Alan Gibbs at Injection Connection in Perth.

I just bought the factory holden VP V8 engine supliment as suggested on the Kalmaker site

http://www.kalmaker.com.au/page4.html

It is Delco for dummies. everey thing is explained completly in laymans terms with about 100 or so pages just on diagnostics. If anyone is thinking of getting it , it is worth the money
The plan is Camira computer + wiring with EA throttle body, injectors, pump and reg. Shouldnt cost me more than about $300

(Preferably bare parts, not attached to anything) :-

12 Port head.
VK EFI manifold.
VK EFI fuel rail
VN V6 Throttle Body
VN V6 TPS
2 bar delco MAP Sensor (you can use the VN one in your application)
VN V6 MAT Sensor

i should be able to help you out with just about all of them grant .... i'll need to get some pics taken first though....

for now you can find some bits here ...

12 Port Head - this is a 12 port head compared to a 9 port head, hope its the angle you want.

VK EFI Manifold

VK EFI fuel rail - have to get one out of the shed i have off the manifold.

VN V6 TB 1 VN V6 TB 2 - these are the best i can do with them at the moment, if you want better i can take one off motor and get angles you want.

VN V6 TPS - as above

2 bar delco MAP Sensor (you can use the VN one in your application) - i only have normal map sensor, not 2 bar

VN V6 MAT Sensor - just got one for my VK manifold the other day, will photo it.

VN V6 Oxygen Sensor - i have vn s1 and vr sensors, i'll photo both.

VN V6 Coolant Temp Sensor - just got one for my VK manifold the other day, will photo it.

VK / VL external bosch fuel pump. (Both Low and Hi Pressure Pumps)can't help you with low pressure pump as VK doesn't have one, but i have high pressure one i can photo for you.

Coolant temp sensor Coolant temp sensor plug - i believe this one is very common, its the same for just about every holden i have seen, also i think fords use it.

V6 MAP Sensor - bottom V6 MAP Sensor - top

V6 MAT Sensor V6 MAT Sensor plug

V6 TB 1 V6 TB 2

V6 TB - TPS & IAC Sensor V6 TB - IAC Sensor

VK Fuel Rail

VK Fuel Pump
