ok well i ran it up on they dyno yesterday (same one ive always used)
it went 251hp at the tyres, at 6200rpm.
it only made 221rwhp on petrol.
but i think ive run into problems, its slightly lean at full tilt and no matter what i do i cant richen it up, i pushed the needle in 80thou deeper and no change.
they are set at 6psi too (they hold 10 psi quite easily?) so float bowl emptying? jet tube too small?

calculator says it will run a 12.1 quarter? id be more than happy with a 12.4

grant, yeh mate been there already, cheers, ill be at six banger nats next month if your coming out. yeah im 17 too haha.

adam, thanks man i have had pacemakers in there with no worries but these are 3 into 1 custom jobbies 1 5/8 primaries & 2 1/4 secondaries with half decent collectors on them. they are a bit tight around the eng mount and you can only just get a reduction starter out after 10 mintues of swearing and cursing. next pipes will just go through the inner guard :buttrock:

Thanks for the reply Kevin , Ive tried some sets of extractors on the eh but i dont like the way they drop of the ports to quick ,even tried a set of HM9C but couldnt get them to fit . I have a webber style manifold with 48 mm throtle bodies on it but just need a good set of extractors , at the moment it runs the cast iron headers but i think these are holding it back big time . !!!!

ok so a bit has happened with this hotrod in the past 2 weeks.
pull the mota out last weekend to find out why puff the magic dragon breathes so hard, i can see the top ring with pistons in there and looks to be about 80thou ring gap, and yes the meth has caused it to wear and hone marks are non existent. i also emptied the litre catch can to find 800ml of pure methanol in there. i was expecting this because i didnt really look after it, now i know!
a good mate/head porter says the head has a bit more in it so ive been at work on that but i has POSSIBLY struck water yet again so will need pressure testing and fingers crossed.
it has 2cc dish pistons 10 thou down the bore so shave 10 off should bring the comp up from 10.9 to 11.3.
it will get a bearings, a hone and file fit rings and put back together for now until a build another bigger and better one.
and we will see how close it goes to the illusive 11's !

holley bowls, return reg etc has been ordered too.
found out why it was jumping up and down the whole track, i have bent my slapper bars theres now a 2 inch gap between the bar and the body so instead of +8 degree's of pinion angle it probably has -8
and my best time at the six banger nats was 7.73 @ 88mph with a 1.57 60 foot

cheers

Sounds like you need to lean it out a bit if you are putting that much alky in the sump. The engine I'm using was in speedway car for 2 or 3 years then parked for 7 years. I pulled it down last year then put it together using the same rings & bearings. The previous motor is now in my road car, it has 300 passes on petrol & 200 on alky, still doesn't "breath".
What does your EH weigh Kevin ?

nah it doesnt make that much milk now, only when its cold but soon as the temp gets up shes all sweet
i had it at work for a month while tuning it and it was constantly started etc and wasnt run on petrol just a bit of crc down the carbs

not exactly sure should be about 2550-2600 with me in it now

Alcho will always milk the oil if you arent warming it up properly before turning it off.

as its just a race car, why not grout the block and maybe give the head a go? Wont matter if you hit.the water jacket then. Plus methanol wont get hot enough to cause dramas.

sorry, i didnt make it clear, the breather was full from when i didnt have the tune right and it was milking the sump.
orange lj, its a bit harder to not milk with su's but with a 4 barrel on a v8 you can set them up without filling the sump
dont worry it has crossed my mind but grout = heavy and less weight = more fast.
the head will get epoxied and run without water if i have ported through (i think its just a mark from the cutter)
it has a allum radiator from a mini and with 2 back to back runs it gets up to 200f with the fan on but it is lean at idle

It's been sleeping for the past 7 months, but im slowly starting to piece it back together, and hopefully faster again.

i finished adapting the Holley bowls to the su's a couple of months ago ive been to slack to post any pic's.
