How about meeting at noon on Sunday in the pit area, eastern end behind Grand Stand? Thats the only consistent landmark I can think of.... Any other suggestions?

Sounds good to me Howard

I'll be there Sunday so let's make sure we have a meeting point sorted. It will be good to put names to faces. I was working the Hume Highway yesterday and had an A9X, L34 and XE drive past on trailers. Can't wait until Sunday.

Food area works for me too, but there are a few, you're talking about the one situated basically in the centre of the pit area? (where we met last year)

Just picked up the Charger ready for tomorrow and Sunday.

And a picture of my perfect garage. Too bad the Charger is just a loaner :furious:

I went looking for you guys but couldn't see anyone there....Didn't help that I didn't have a clue who I was looking for though.

Was a great day with some great racing and even better cars lol. Met a HEAP of ex drivers and got them all to sign my shirt. Most were very happy to do so and happy to have a quick chat and stuff but one driver rolled his eyes at me and was very unhappy to sign my shirt - but did. I was very polite to him and everything - even after he was a bit rude. I understand he was signing stuff all day and he would be over it by the end of the day - but he is a superstar of aussie motorsport and would know by now what that means with thousands of ppl coming to see him at events like this. Has backed up many things I have heard about him in the past.

I'll post up pics shortly

here are some of my pics

one of the Kiwi Central Muscle Cars - they have pretty liberal rules (basically a V8 supercar with an old shell - and bloody awesome and super tough as you can see

Paul Stubber's 69 camaro powered by a 410ci speedway motor being chased down by a 68 RS camaro with a big block - the noise from this thing was awesome

AMC javelin - looked and sounded wicked

this was on the back window of Steve Masterton's Group A Vk

A replica of the HDT 'Beast" sports sedan powered by a mid mounted Repco-Holden V8

These are all genuine group c and a touring cars that competed during the day

A fitting tribute to the late, great Frank Gardner
Posted Image

A genuine group C VH - as you can see by the condition its unrestored
Posted Image

the 1990 bathurst winning car
Posted Image

Walk 5 mins and you can see a handful of other famous cars - none more so than this one....this is the 79 car that brock and richards drove around the mountain for that crushing win. Had goosebumps standing in front of this car - very very special

Thats all for now - I have more if ppl are interested

So am I the only one feeling just a little dissapointed in the Masters this year...?
I'm pretty sure the entry fee was up on previous years, there was no 'show bag', and the feild of legend cars seemed a little empty... No super Falcon, Moffat Mustang, Beechy Monaro, Brock Commodores, Bartlet Camaro, etc, etc.....
maybe it's just me, or maybe it just a case of after 4 years it just seems to be "same old same old".....Don't get me wrong, I still had a great day, just didn't feel like the same excitement I remembered from previous years....
... put a question in my mind on whether I'll be back next year......

We had a great day. Yes the price was up $5.00 on the price last year.

We also went looking for the free bags and yes they did not have them this year did not matter as they did not have much in last year so did not miss out on much.

We went into the pits and straight up to the Kiwi's they had a Lone O Ranger and Strike Me Pink LJ just like the cars we own. They were very interested in speaking to us as we were to them. Exchanged websites with them. It would be good to catch up with them either over there or here again.

We enjoyed the racing seeing the cars that we grow up with racing close. We look forward to next year.

I was a little disappointed after the big 5 from last year none of those cars coming again - but maybe they didnt want to have the 'same old same old' as you put it. If you went every year and saw those 5 cars you would become blase about them over time as well. They are very special cars though. I was still impressed with the line up of genuine racing cars and the big line up of drivers from the past (the famous ones and the not as famous ones that were lurking around the pits)

Great pics there Graham, love the technical shots as well. Hopefully work will be kinder next year and I can start doing some stuff again. Already starting to ease up a bit, hopefully more to come, might even sneak up to Newcastle later this month, but I doubt it. Car shows just don't float my boat.
