Hey Heath are there any secret tricks to re-bushing the hinges? Or is it as simple as the photo with the nailpunch and socket explain?

Hey also I'm just curious, what sort of weapon holesaw did you use the drill the speed-holes in the hinges? Cos it would want to cut like a hot knife through butter to create that many holes.

Yeah Mick I just bought a set of Frost (little brother of Sutton) metal hole saws and they work alright. The process isn't that fast but it's not too bad.

Rebushing the hinges isn't super hard. Just make sure you have some patience, some silicone lubricant and a flat file that you can chuck in a vice. Ohh yeah and it's a bit tricky to assemble them without scratching the paint a bit too...

You forgot the bit about supporting them to knock the pins out.

You'll be careful when it comes to driving it with all that up front, expensive to fix!

Less weight = less braking force needed!

I heard he was putting drums back on the front as they are 36.789grams lighter than standard discs!

And with four wheel drums theres no need for a booster, another 2.86795kg less.

Cheers.

No, that spoiler has a lot to do with the aerodynamics of the car. Low pressure zone behind it, high pressure infront, makes the engine bay breathe through the smile and sucks the air out under the firewall, also looks good & gives me a spot for the mouths of my brake ducts.

I don't know what will happen with the brakes... most of this car is still up in the air but standard R31 discs on the back is a likely possibility, with R32 GTS-T front brakes. 4x114.3 all round, and I might make my own hubs for the front with standard Torana wheel bearings. Slip the rotors on with some decent studs all round, set up some adjustable ducts on the front end and get some brake pads that don't mind heat.

And I would lose the booster if I wasn't gonna run like... four pots on the front and stuff :(

Heath, if your running good brakes i personally cant see a point to a booster......

Paint the front.

Cheers.

Bomber is 100% correct there is no need for a booster if you are running good brakes, in fact the pedal feel should be really good if you get it right, nice and firm but not rediculously so.

Plus you can use it as an excuse to put a bias bar in while you're at it = win/win situation. Wilwood masters are only about $60 or something from summit, a bias bar wouldnt cost much more than $50 or $60 from the states, you know you want to make use of the welder!

Oh okay, I just thought if you put multi-piston calipers on, you needed either a lot of pedal movement, or a lot of pedal force. The diameter of the rotors won't be that bit etc, anyway we can discuss that in person in greater detail.

VT brakes don't come in the right stud pattern for one, and are the calipers as nice as the Skyline unit? Nissan four pots are renowned for being pretty good.

Good stuff Heath. You can sell the idea of anything mate. Hopefully you see through the idea of four studs. It should piss off the redneck purists nicely

Doesn't matter what stud pattern you use, as long as you can get rims to fit. As for passing a RWC, that could be a different story.
