We found one. It was a 2hr drive but was well worth it.

1962 EK Holden Sedan Special
3 speed column shift manual
Completely original

Has the original spare in the boot and the tyres on it are prehistoric as well they have the old Bridgestone logo on them. But they held up to the 2hr drive home on the F3. I just cruised at 60mph.

It does need afew things done to it but overall we are very happy with it.

All we have done so far is painted the wheels and i will be inspecting the clutch setup tonight as well.

Plans are to tidy it up and hire it out as a wedding car on occasions and most importantly.. ENJOY IT FOR WHAT IT IS!

Steering and brakes are easy. The brakes have been rebuilt along with shocks and exhaust. The clutch needs to be sorted as the previous owner replaced the slave and master cylinders on it but think it may need bleeding or adjusting as one of the rods hits the slave cylinder which doesn't seem right to me.

Not a fan of the double shuffle lol... but we are getting alot better with it. Still need to work afew bugs out though. We had an oil leak on it. Turns out the side plate and rocker cover were only on finger tight.

Nice score, and very cheap.

They all come with some little issues and the clutch will be easy to sort out.

Grey motors are so sweet at idle.

Its only 425rpm - you can see the cooling fan going round one blade at a time!!!

Easiest way for her to master first , is to see what speed it idles at in first , then there is no reving needed to go back to first , just do it at 5 ,8 or 10 mph what ever works. It looks great !

Or..........
Using the clutch, pull it out of second and find neutral.
Take foot off clutch.
Rest weight of arm on gearstick in the direction of first.
(There may now be a grinding noise, this is normal)
Play the accelerator pedal up and down the scale until your arm drops.
Voila!
Can be done at any speed your car will pull in first. :spoton:

Anyone able to help out with clutch adjusting specs?...

Give the clutch 1/8" freeplay at the throwout lever.

You should also check that the rubber stopper up behind the clutch pedal has not fallen out or deteriorated badly. Check the brake one while you are at it. Rares sell these if they are stuffed. You can adjust pedal freeplay but unless someone has buggered round with it previously then it will be OK. Check anyway - you should see no more than 1/8" to 1/4" freeplay at the pedal.

To get these things into first gear you need to come to a fairly complete stop. The grey motors are very torquey and the cars are very light with a short diff ratio (3.89) so they will pull off from almost standstill in second gear. You will find it easier if the idle speed is set to factory spec and that you drive it like its a 50 year old car.

Late model fuel pumps (sealed commodore blue/black type) will bolt straight up. An electric pump would work but the factory ones are more than adequate for a stock engine.

Probably jump onto the tail end of the cruise

In a 60hp grey powered car you'll get used to this position. Your challenge will be keeping up.
