Hey Guys,

Well as some of you guys and gals would know, my mighty ute got written off in the hail storm... I recently got paid out for the ute and have been looking around for a new car... Had no idea what to get... Whether to get another ute, or something else...

I decided to pay off my loan and only spend a little bit on a cheaper daily thats also cheaper to run.

I think i managed to find the perfect alternative! Its a 1997 5L VT Calais on LPG!!!

Its done 195,000k's so its pretty low for a 97 vt!

I put a deposit down on it today and im pretty happy with it!

Very neat car. A set of rims and a rear spoiler will set it off nicely :)

Btw a calais doesnt have a single commodore badge on it does it?

Very sensible car Matt :joystick:

Question is what is the surplus coin going towards?

Are you going to pimp the Calais ?
or pump it into Hatch 1 or Hatch 2 ?
or mortgage?

Thanks Garth,

The surplus will be going towards the Hatch! Watch this space! Don't have heaps left after i paid out the loan, but its enough to have some fun with!

No real plans for the Calais, at most when it needs tyres i'll find a set of SS wheels or something.... No rear spoiler, they look tacky IMO if you dont have an SS and the rest of the kit... I like the shape of the VT rear end without the spoiler

Correct! LOL! But i admit, its a commodore! HAHA!

Ha ha thats a nice car Matt. I reckon the surplus would be well spent on another carport but thats your business I guess. If you've got plans for the hatch then I'll be keen to check it out later in the year.

I've got a couple of shitty little changes planned for my Torana. Just have to finish this semester at uni then i'll have some time to do them.

Mick, i swear i saw you and your car driving down my road this morning! We were in Maddys new VT, so i highly doubt you would have recognised us at all!

Yeah, carport is also on the agenda, we have a million things planned for the house, just time these days! Never have enough of it!

It should be a lot cheaper than a 5.7L on Premium!

Good work dude!

Ive got a set of lowered springs that you can have for cheap as chups! They are about the same as whats in my VT, not too low, but just nice.

Looks schmikko though, you bought another dark coloured car though! hahahaha

LOL!

Yeah, they just look so much better!!!

Its not black at least... its just a really really dark blue! HAHA!

Yeah, i have a few tiny mod ideas for it... When it needs tyres i'll find some SS wheels for it... VY-VZ SS wheels would look good on it. That would mean it needs to be lowered a touch as well (as you say, not too low... just nice)

Also thinking of putting an LPG performance memcal in it... They are like $75 and they say you can pick up 10-15kw. Its not just the piggy back chips either, they are basically a refined memcal. Anyone else used these before?

What other cheap mods help improve these motors? Cold Air intake?

REALLY looking forward to getting the car home and giving it a really good detail! Its a bit dirty at the moment!

The cold air intakes that run up to the top of the radiator improve economy and are supposed to give you a couple more hp, if you want to order one, give me a hoy (Ray still has all his old accounts for the workshop and SS inductions were one thing we got massively cheap as they fit our indusrty :) )

Flicked you an email about the springs :)

once you have lpg on a daily Matt you wont go back to fuel, nice choice on replacement and saves you those repayments each month.
