Just got a quote to re-tube/balance from the nearest shop to me, $450-$500 plus freight costs.

Just bought a Mark Williams Alloy shaft from the States, 3.5inch alloy with billet ends and billet yolk. All up $650, same price in Australia well over a grand, freight was $250. They do chrome molly for $450, plus freight, takes about 2 weeks.

Did a bit of research for ya Hanra, the mob that fukt up with ur job r called the blast shed in Cairns.
U did the right right thing(llegally) in approaching them for the fuk up up & all they did was shrug their shoulders.
To you mob that might work for or know these people or think they r "good blokes"???
Go ahead file a "defamamation of character",,lets just hope there is enough support from u mob on this place that
cant stand fuk ups like this on hard to come by gear.
What sort of "character" r we "defaming"??
Someone fukt up & sum1 had to spit it out.
Does it really look(sound, whatever) that I give a fuk about what idiots do to other peoples gear.
I would be ashamed & do my best to help the guy out if I did something like that.

Can I confirm that the V8 tailshaft is 2.75in diam and is a straight piece of tube? No larger sections.

Whew....made it back from the deep dark back yard safe, lol...

The one out of my hatch is 2.5" and the same all along.

Maybe its not the same as what your's would have used ?

(I had a new one built when I did the engine and diff swap, and just went with a 3" one..not stock though I realize for you)

I dont have my shaft here with me and I wont be home till Saturday... Just want to make sure the shaft I have is correct before I go spending $500 to have it re-tubed.

My car is an original 253 car...but of course don't know for sure if the tailshaft had been changed in the years before I got it in 2000.

But seemed original at least to me.

Dang...at $500....nearly half way to a plane ticket, I could take the tailshaft as a carry on maybe ? lol...

Brad, you mention getting yours re-tubed is there any reason you haven't chased up a second hand one, not questioning your decision just wondering cause $500 is a lot of money if you can get a 2nd hand one and have it re-balanced.

did a quick scan on eGay and found Christian has one at Milton in Brissy.

I rang them they don't have any V8 tailshafts. I rang all the wreckers within 800 klm of me and no one had anything. A couple of guys just laughed......when I asked for a tailshaft to suit a V8 LH/LX Torana...... Why do hard?

What worries me with sending it away, is that Ive got to trust that the courier wont destroy the repaired tailshaft... like they did with my centre console that time...
