but a 5 ltr hatch was all i ever wanted before i bought mine!
only ever drove a cotillion white one from tammin w.a.
that i thought was not quite good enough!? before i came across mine!
still spewing
to all the extremely lucky owners of the very rare L31 hatchbacks
being manual or auto
respect what you have!
they are in my opinion more rare in there original form ( un flaired )?
than the A9X hatch
fark i still want one!

Spot on davemc they are a rare beast no doubt about that i have seen plenty of 6cyl and 253s made out to be either the a9x or the 5 litre ss...

It wasnt until I picked up the one I did and did some research that I relised just how hard the genuine unflared or flared ss 5 litres are to find...

Now all I need to do is stop driving and working on my a9x and get back to finishing the one I have lol would love to know actual production numbers as I know the torana book says 138 I think now I know people laugh and say there are heaps more than that well if there were where have they all gone then I really think if people actually knew how many they made they may very well be surprised in the rarity of them....

As you say flareless even harder to find im glad I talked my son into keeping this one stock as he did want to flare it...

No. I still know where it is though.

 

I passed because the ID tags were an issue. They were later found on the floor of the car under a heap of parts.

The mrs asked me if i wanted it. She was standing beside me. My price was $1500. I knew the owner & he needed cash like NOW! Not bad for a rust free (repaired) SS shell with hanging panels & a car full of bits. If only i had room.

 

I brokered it for 2K & passed the full amount onto the owner. My fee must have been expensive because i never did get that box of beer!

ok guys just did a search through Australian Muscle Cars to see what they have sold since they have been around and this is there sold list on factory 5 litres now i dont know if these are already forum members cars and on our list some may be but for what dollars they bring only 14 genuine ones have been sold on there site....

1 m40 tuxedo black

Once upon a time......

I was lucky enough (and too young and stupid to know better) to watch a panel beater mate oxy in rust repairs to a hatchback he had at his workshop in Ashfield.

It was a 5 litre - but not sure if L31 (too young...)

 

It was HOT PINK !!

 

I asked him about it and he said it was factory.

I found that hard to believe (even then)

He told me he was matching up the color from the paint code on the plate - and asked me in that knowing way if I knew better than him.

I also towed it to an address (i think in Concord) and dumped it in the middle of the street because the guy wouldnt/ couldnt pay for the repairs

 

Damn I wish I had had a camera!
