Well I have done it!! Car will be at Dirtbags (Tim) place in the next week or so. He can't start on it for a while but that is ok. Initially we are going to have it blasted just to see what we have. Expecting the worst as it has some bad signs and these things were renowned for rust in problem areas. I think it was meant to be though. I found the car about an hour away from where Tim lives. So l won't even get to see or drive it as l am in Victoria. Tim will get that honour!! l think we would all agree he is the best person to handle a job that has significant rust issues.

LS1 Hatch you might be onto something there and Tim has already got me thinking as he said the same the other day. It is an all original and matching number car however after searching the BMW forums and speaking to a couple of BMW enthusiasts with E9's they don't seem to have 'value' issues with upgrading the motor. Actually most have done it however it is normally later model BMW 3.5 litre straight sixes with fuel injection. I will always have the original motor and gearbox anyway if l wanted to take it back to original. Probably depends though on how much he would need modify car. I will wait for Tim to have a look at it and see what he reckons. The more and more l think about it l reckon a fuel injected V8 would just set it off. However if it is all to hard it will be an upgraded BMW motor for sure.

I wonder if it would fit in engine bay?? If it did would be a great option depending on what it goes for given it comes with everything. Now I really need to work that out ASAP don't l!! Will keep you posted l am making some calls to see if it would fit?

E6 motor all the way.

BMW makes the best inline six on the planet, bar none, and inline sixes are far superior to everything else, period.

Have rebuilt more e30's than you can poke a stick at!

While the bmw 6 is an awesome motor...when it comes to $/hp, engine weight and ease of conversion...you cant beat an lsx swap.

Hence why my e30 is getting an ls1!

Theres a couple of local e3 bavaria sedans hanging around i'd love to pick up and turn into cool cruisers, like the e9 but sedan version.

Well you wont have that problem DJ, being such a fan of the hopeless non crossflow turd that is the holden 6, I'm sure your old man already knows you're gay : ) hahahaha! You know I'm kidding so I don't mind saying stuff like that to you. Plus you're an awesome kisser : )

Seriously though, a later model BMW 6 would be great, but NOTHING beats the sound of a V8 with a manual gearbox. Just saying : ) (hint hint Damian)
