If you went with an inline 6, could you look at an RB25 or similar?

Or a 20B Rotary!

Dirtbag would never touch a Rotary. Even if owner wanted it.

E6 motor all the way. BMW makes the best inline six on the planet, bar none, and inline sixes are far superior to everything else, period. Cheers.

Put a Cummins 5.9 diesel out of a Dodge truck in it then.... :P

(And I still say Gen III or IV Chev for it :D)

Have rebuilt more e30's than you can poke a stick at!

While the bmw 6 is an awesome motor...when it comes to $/hp, engine weight and ease of conversion...you cant beat an lsx swap.

Hence why my e30 is getting an ls1!

Also pissing off purists is awesome fun :) Theres a couple of local e3 bavaria sedans hanging around i'd love to pick up and turn into cool cruisers, like the e9 but sedan version.

Ok great someone who has done the conversion. So what sort of mods had to be done to your e30 to fit LS motor? Is the engine bay of the E9 the same size as the E30? I am really leaning towards this option as long as l don't have to cut up car.

If it was only minor l can live with it. Main thing would be that it could be taken back to original. I am thinking more of long term resale value for enthusiast who wanted original car.

Nothing in the engine bay has to be touched. I have to adjust the trans tunnel a little but only because i'm running a dry sump on mine (fits a little further back that other swaps that have been done).

The ls1 is a surprisingly TINY motor!

Posted Image

That's an e9 engine bay...looks like a front sump ls1 will fit with plenty of room.

I am very confused at the moment about what to do motor wise but thats ok l have a bit of time to decide. These are the wheels l have chosen. They are 18x7 (F) and 18x9 or 10 depending on whether l can get the 10's to fit.

Ah ok, From the pick they looked like later model BMW wheels. BMW makes some awesome wheels.

The ones you have picked out will do nicely though.

Cheers.

Yes true. Sometimes l find it hard when changing cars from original. However I think if overall it stays true to he original design and doesn't make it look like something from"Pimp My Ride" then all good. If l go with the LS1,2 or 3 engine l am sure l will get he BMW purists fired up!!
