Yeah im going to have dramas. But tim with the wta intercooled uc just fits in. Hopefully i just have to remove/work the rib in the bonnet.

Going to lower the engine a little more with the new mounts.

I have had a win over the weekend. I modified the engine plates to accept standard Torana 308 engine mounts so I don't have to run the pissy 6cyl (202) engine mounts. Not bad for a sparky and second time I have picked up a stick welder lol.

I moved the engine as low as I can to give me some bonnet clearance hopefully haha

I have fitted the flywheel and clutch and have adjusted the clutch fork so that the clutch will work.

So hopefully have the motor in this week, then onto wiring the week after. And hopefully out to the fab shop the week after 12th Sept. But they are flat out put will pester them it should only take a day to do my work. Inter-cooler pipework, fab up airbox and fit small can around fuel pump to help with surge issue.

If its not on the road by October ill be disappointed, 1 month past planned finish.

Pulleys are from killkenny castings. Some a slightly different size but should work out ok.

Im going to have all chrome pulleys. I got the water pump and alternator pulleys chromed.

lol Rob im loving all these cheap shots from you V8 boys.

Have a look at Hayden's L67 (V6 UC).

http://www.gmh-toran...uc/page__st__75

Basically exactly the same combo as mine but NON-Intercooled. On 98 it made 311rwhp and 551Nm. Mine should make another 30rwhp and a fair bit more torque and his is good for high 11's now :)

It's the torque that makes theses things hammer. With a cooled setup u shud have around 800+nm if everything done properly

You need to be cautious when quoting the torque figures from dyno sheets.

Often the torque figure on the dyno sheet is the torque at the roller which is affected by gear ratios and tyre diameter. If you do two runs one in second and one in third then the HP will stay the same but the torque figure for the second gear run will be significantly higher.

If you want to get a torque figure that makes sense then use the HP figure at the rpm where the highest torque is produced and calculate the torque using following formulae.

Torque ft-lbs = ( 5252 x HP ) / rpm

HP = ( Torque ft-lbs * rpm ) / 5252

ft-lbs = N.M. / 1.35581795

Yeah I am aware of this, we just use the figures as a reference really at my mates wshop, to compare cars and see wat mods do wat on the rollers

So motors in.

I have finished the engine wiring following some motivation from Toranafest :).

Have fitted the -6 fittings onto the braided fuel lines and hooked it all up.

Today I ran the -12 braided heater hose.

Waiting on some -7 hose too join the fuel rails then the intercooler plate and blower can be properly mounted.

Heaps happy with the outcome so far.

Have been a bit slack over the past month as the fab shop has been flat out and I have lost a little motivation, plus a couple of big weekends including Bathurst. lol

Good news the inter-cooler pipework will be done this week.

Since last update:
Interior finished including boost gauge, shift light and some other wiring changes have been done.

Blower, throttle body etc is all mounted up.

Throttle cable has been shortened to suit custom bracket. Working well.

Engine is full of fluids and is turning fine off the starter :)

Have had a custom Oil catch can made and drop tank is being modded so that pump is located in the middle/rear of the tank with baffled section around it to stop surge issue.

Should be running this time next week finally!!

Enjoy:)

Oil catch can to replace original washer fluid bottle. -12's to rocker covers, -10 to vacuum to make it legal.

Catch can installed

missing some hoseclamps! haha.

front pipework is great (short run) but that long run on the inlet side of the cooler is loooooong (but necessary)

will be good to see what it pulls on the dyno :)

Yeah not much that could be done. Its a good 3-4 ft shorter all round than commodore installations as the pipe work has to go down to the inter-cooler inlets at the bottom.

Just finished reading the whole thread from start to finish. You think it took you a while, wish I'd made that much progress on mine.

Well done on an excellent job the end result is sweeeeeeet. Your build progress posts are detailed and and excellent guide for other just starting out on how not to rush things and do it right do it once that will make sure the repairs/mods last for a long time to come.
