What u think. And fill the holes with a stainless stell bolts.

Yea the paint isn't bad but the engine bay isn't good as he painted it with the engine in.

The mags are 14" steelies. Ill get pics later.

I like the look of the silver light surrounds dad isn't very keen. lol

Now that should be the first thing you take off and Fix!!!!

Sorry but they make the lights look almost as ugly as a UC!!!

How many tough Toranas do you see with them still on?

o ok, yeah silver headlight surrounds are good. But the trim around the rear tailights are terrible! i noticed you have them around one of the tail lights.....

My headlights have polished headlight surrounds now. just a bit on thinners and steel wool and hte black paint comes straight off!

around the right tailight in this pic....

Yea, I have looked at heaps of photos of the rear of torries and probably better without the silver light trim.

So I suppose you take those little clips off and fill the holes in??
What you do with the gap around the light???

Heres a pic of the mags 245/50R 14's

Also if anyone has got one or sees a rear rubberless bumper like the one on the front give me a yell.

Hey,

Just after some info on getting the 253 out.

How do you guys attach the chain/strap from the chain block to the engine to lift her out??

I have a chain block and a wheelable fixing on the I beam, where im planning to lift it out of the new hatch and wheel it over to the old hatch and fit it in there.

I suppose I will have to take the box off to get it out??

I will be taking the bonnet and radiator out obviously. lol

Thanks Ryan

Finally got the braket right to pick up on the rear chassi rail to trailing arm connectors.

Three days of fiddiling and re measuring and finally 30mins of filing to get the locator to fit right and its a success. Well we haven't got it off the trailer yet, but looks sturdy enough.

Wasn't an easy task having to jack up the back of the car about a meter to get it under properly but we got there with plenty of chock timber. :spoton:
Will get photos up soon.

I have got one made for the front so we can take the enigne and front end out while the car is at the panel beater.

We are going to steam clean and spray all the underbody too.

Ey man, that blue looks tuff, Has it been rubbed back, cut n polished, or is it still off the gun It looks like it would come up alight by the pics

But then again it could have scratches and dents

Good to see your not taking the hard road with the other hatch :spoton:
Keep us updated and take lots of photo's

Its been a while since i have posted much about the project.

I have been getting stuck into it over the past week as i finished the HSC last wednesday..

Today I got the 253 out and fitted it in the other hatch. After taking bits and pieces off over the past few days and today taking the gearbox X member, sway bar and speedo cable out, I fitted two bolts in either end of the head and hoisted it out with the aid of a chain block and a rollable support that rolls on the I beam overhead.

Posted Image

Engine bay looks quite straight and there is no sign of any repairs.

Posted Image

Have had one panel beater come up and have to ring another tommorrow.
Nearly forgot, how can I tell wat gearbox it is, its automatic and i got these numbers off it.

0209737 was on a small silver tag.

5258485
88-2
Was stamped near where the speedo mechanism is.

looking good mate, that box is a trimatic, to find out what its from you need the 2 letters off the silver tag, they should be LS or something like that.

bit of surface rust under the car there, looks like this diff belongs under there

haha yea makka, its mainly dirt but looks alot like surface rust. :D.

When i get the chance ill get under the other car and have a look, but didn't notice any letters on the tag before

Ive had a quick go a disassembling the dash that i have as im going to attempt to wind it back.

Could someone inform me how to do it?

I have got the dash out on its own if ya know wat i mean, its an SLR white needle one but i have a couple of normal ones that i can try it on first.

Hey,

Its been about two months since i have posted anything up.

But theres alot happening with the car, the VP V6 has had a complete rebuild and is practically a new motor.

I gave the car a big clean with the steam cleaner in, out and under and got about 2kgs of leaves and shit out of the front windscreen airbox area.

The car is out at a diff conversioner where he is fitting the R31 skyline diff to it.

What ratios did these come out in, from memory it was 3.7:1 and 3.89:1????

Hes ground all the brackets off changed the stud pattern to commodore 5 stud, and has cheacked it over and says that the centre is not LSD but is in good condition.

He is also boxing the upper and lower trailing arms.

We are pricing all new gear from pedders at the moment including front and rear sway bars.

I got given a rear bumper but would like one in better condition.

We just have to move along and get the V6 conversion kit sorted before the engine comes back.

Here some pics.

Cheers Youngy
