Hi guys, firstly, I'm new here. I used to own a LC 2 door many years ago which was actually my first car,
Now I have very possibly been given the chance to get my hands on a Lj xu1 Bathusrt model.. The car has been stored for about 20 years and is in very bad shape body wise, car has the tags, original engine, box, diff, wheels, carbies. Full interior is ok. But like I said, the actual body is almost beyond repair rust wise. What I need to know is what roughly this car would be worth. I have no pics sorry.
If anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated. I'm just not sure how much I should be spending to get this car in the first place.
Thank you!

Thanks guys, there is absolutely no question at all it is a genuine car. I just need to know how much something like this is really worth, like I said though, the shell itself is basically had it from rust, it's at the stage it requires to be re shelled, but, everything is there part and numbers wise.

No worries, you should get everything thoroughly checked before making an offer..... Numbers are a good starting point..

Yeah I know, you'll just have to trust me on the car being legit. I think it's still going to cost about 15k to get a hold of if I pursue it.

Exactly, pillars, qtrs, gaurds, sills all stuffed. My question is though, if it's still worth say 15k for example, everything else is there for the car.

Without pictures and details it is impossible to say.... Depends how bad it is... And how much of the repairs you can do yourself...

I do understand that guys. I can do a lot of it myself, no problem. Except for the actual metal work.
Thanks.

It's really your call.

They don't come up that often, so if you can get it for 15k and are sure it is legit, then go for it.

I totally agree with Skap (Gonad Gobbler tee hee) though, you should put some pics up to make sure.

If you can't do the metalwork it is going to cost you a LOT to get fixed though. Think 20-30k, but then it will be worth 70 maybe?

But not if you reshell it.

This is going to be a touchy subject, but, how would you know if I re shelled it and used the original skirts, rails etc from the xu1 with the numbers on it.

If you're going to reshell it, you may as well buy an s.

There are people on this forum who will pick it in a flash if it isn't the real deal, I've seen it happen before.

Having said that, as long as you present it as a reshelled car, no one will really worry about it. Its when you try to sell it and represent it as an original car when it is not that people will arc up because it is actually fraud.

No one likes to see anyone get ripped, which is why we've asked you to put up pics to make sure you don't.

Not from ebay, it's through a friend in my family. He brought it brand new. It's not to sell the car. I would keep it forever and pass it down in my family.

What kind of differences are there in the body model to model?
