In another life I used to hang out with folk who were into very correct English cars, mostly Rovers and Jags. The judging used to penalise cars that were “over restored”.
I would have expected a recreation of original fitment and orange peel in acrylic on an XU-1 would be viewed as most correct? Would fit in nicely with the “recreated” engine paint overspray on the bellhousing?

A question born of musing.
Two parts. Both assume original paint job has been redone.
1. Is an XU1 worth more on the market with a 2 pack perfect flat panel job, perfect gaps etc or is it worth more with a “ex factory” style repaint in acrylic?
2. A question for any judges on here. Which of the above two scenarios will score the most points at concors?
Yours in idle curiosity. Well sort of. I might be travelling this path somewhere in the near ish future.

I will agree that 2 pack is a far superior coating to Acrylic, there is no debate there. To be perfectly honest, the prices these cars are asking these days, the bloody paint type (2 pack or acrylic) probably doesn't matter.I think folks these days would just be happy they have an honest car that's all matching because that's whats truly important.

Some say they prefer the look of acrylic on a resto, looking original. Although on a street rod type build I do like the tuppaware look.
