Hey Struggler
i just wondering if you would know what rpm and boost the lj rods will stand up to? they have been resized to suit holden crank and for floating pins. havent had them shot peened as some engine builders like to do it and some don't. whats your thoughts?
Thanks

The LJ rods will cope with heaps of RPM, but I don't know of anyone that has tested their boost limits ! I would imagine they would be fine to at least 15psi.

Shotpeening is always a good idea IMO.

good to see things are starting to come together.
I have started to price bits and pieces for a chev, it looks like its going to be easier/cheaper/stronger to build one of them up for boost

heya guys i ring the liscanceing department of WA here today and they said that you can turbocharge 3x the tare weight of your vehicle. to give cubic inches and you can NA 5x the weight of your vehicle.
so cant get 308 turbo here, but should ring an engineerto find out more.
no big fines if you get caught, prob just a yellow sticker, because the cop notices that it doesnt look stock.

The cam is a from crow, specs are:- 234 dur @ .050 exh & int, .521 lift with 1.65 rocker ratio, and 114 lobe sep. it is hydraulic as i dont want to be doing valve lash adjustments all the time. it is going to be doughy off boost, so i will be definitely hooking up some laughing gas. :D

the carby and hat cost about $1400. i have a mate that brings them in from the states. the hat is a CSU product as well, hope this helps.

Good to see you starting with quality gear, those hats are well worth their purchase price.

FWIW up to about 10psi you can get away with a fairly standard carb, over 10psi then you really need a blow-thru specific item such as the CSU.

Well done and keep up the good work !!

I just want to know have you tried shuting your bonnet with that intercooler sitting that high because when I fitted one to mine the bonnet catch was hitting the top of the cooler

yeah i had to cut and shut the safety latch to make her a bit shorter and grind a bit off the bottom of it. i also hole sawed two holes into the nose cone for the cooler to locate and to drop it down a bit more. fits nicely now, i will put up so pics of what i did soon.

looks like the same cooler as mine to, I just dropped it down further and put the number plate on a angle to force air up behind the bumper bar, to look at the car you wouldnt know it was there, and the bar hides the water spray

Sorry about the huge images.

As you can see, no bonnet catch at all, just pins. With the grill relieved a bit it all fitted nicely and was reasonably undetectable.

"cooler was about 3" thick, was a cut down Kenworth item.

Gas hat worked fine but I was only using about 6psi.

Closer view of your cooler lets me know why you had cut so much, mines not the same size mine was a perfect fit no cutting just the pipe holes, in the smaller picture it doesnt look that big
