Question for those that attended, were there cameras there, as in like it was being filmed for braodcast or replay, or was there only news crews filming????
Just wondering as it would be a shame if this event was not caught on film.
Regards

Someone's got some balls!

I've never heard that many people show so much respect for a public speaker; it was a very special event with a very special atmosphere. I was pleased to see that everyone could celebrate his life and his impact on them, while maintaining a smile. Peter Brock may have died too early, but he achieved so much good that we can only be positive about his life.
Good on you to everyone who attended, to show your respects to the man, and may you rest in peace, Peter Brock, my boyhood hero.

No, that was me knoath. I was pacing up and down the display on the track which was to be used as a parade in Peter Brocks Honour and I was dishearted & disillusioned about the fact that there were no LX's or LH's and that there was only a handful of LC's and LJ's and Commodores everywhere. I spent about half an hour walking around trying to work out who had the authority over the display/parade. I then spoke to Paul from Team Management about this and he told me to bring in a few through gate 5E and that's when I rang Brett, Matt and Heath as I didn't have anyone else's phone numbers. I told these guys to spread the word and I hitched a ride with Brett,... and we got inA huge thank you to Brett for bugging some official who agreed, there were not enough Torries out there!!

The display and parade/Lap of Honour & Tribute was previously organised by relevant clubs and Sandown and all it would've taken was for a club to make a phone call to be included.
Speakers were:
Mr Colin Osborne, CAMS president
Fred Gibson
John Harvey
Allan Moffat
Mark Skaife
Phil Brock
Here are some bits from the speeches:
Prior to this I was deeply moved by Allan Moffats speech, especially when he said (can't remember the exact words) "most of you may kindly refer to Peter Brock as 'Brocky', but I prefer to call him Peter as he was not only a strong competitor but he was also my friend" at that point he broke down in tears.
Allan also said at one stage "that numerous people in the past would say about Peters constant wins 'oh he was just lucky,.. the others weren't trying'. Well you can believe me, the other WERE trying very hard,.. but it was his amazing ability to constantly get good times that made him difficult to keep up with,... he was also one to constantly push the boundary,.. while we were in the pits changing tyres,.. he was still out there doing laps on the same tyres and getting the most out of them."
Another spokesperson also said something along the lines of that Peter would have not liked this day to be a saddened and miserable one and if people were to come here with that intention then he would say well you better pull your socks up because this is going to be a positive day and we're gonna make a red hot go of it.
Another part of a speach was: He believed that if you were lucky enough to be born privileged then you would owe just as much to the world and so Peter always gave to others around him and saw everyone as equals. Peter had a very inquisitive nature and was always curious. He was always asking questions and he always listened. He was also curious about other things in life, including illnesses etc, which is one of the reasons why he opened the 'Peter Brock Foundation' to help others in need.
During the display on the megascreen of Peter Brock's historical wins in racing the audio constantly broke down and there was no sound for most of the time. Yet people stood and watched in the silence and cheered and clapped when Peter Brock passed the finish line each time. Some of them Shouting "GO BROCKY".
The day ended in a pleasant nature and good behaviour and there were no d!ckheads around doing burnouts and stuff. People got together in like minded interest, socialised, made friends and made a red hot go of celebrating the commemeration of the life and legend of Peter Brock, just the way he would have liked it.

Cheers,
Rick.

Thanks again Rick!!...we noticed very quickly there was a severe lack of Torana representation!
So anyway, Rick (TORANR AMORE) went and spoke with the officials and said what's up with the lack of Torana's paying tribute and representing that era of Brocky's racing career - he didn't have to say anymore and before we knew it, we were all parked out on the track as well, making up the tail-end of the official parade lap...
THANK YOU RICK, you made it happen mate, bloody legend!!
