I also made it home safe back to Traralgon from the big day. Mixed emotions. Some of it sad, but the majority of the day was great. Top day to pay respects to Brocky.

Thanks to Brett and Deb for allowing me in LXCHEV for the day. It was awsome to cruise the track and hear some of the crowd yell out "A REAL CAR!!!"

Also it was great to catch up with some of the forum members who I haven't met before.

Here are some of my pics:

Thanks for those LX406, was nice to meet you, sorry I didn't chat .
Good to see those pics, we missed the grandstand view as we were told to assemble on the lawn for the lap.
Didn't see anything of the tribute except for the big screen.

What camera have you got?
They are some really nice pix!!!! very sharp.
Thanks again.

Knoath, yeah it was tops to put a face to a name.

as for the camera, it is a Nikon D70 Digital SLR. Damm battery went flat just at the end of the speeches. Missed out on cruising pics. LXCHEV got some though.

Good to see even the Ford boys joining in there in the cruise. Ford Club here was the same, lots of respect for the man.

Hi all,

What an unbelievable day today. We all met up nice and early and got to Sandown where we parked out the front in the general carpark. Once inside the gates, we walked up and down the front straight admiring the great collection of cars on display, all due to take part in the parade lap following the A30..... but we noticed very quickly there was a severe lack of Torana representation! Literally only 2 or 3 Torana's out there, and probably 200-300 other cars, mainly Commodores....

So anyway, Rick (TORANR AMORE) went and spoke with the officials and said what's up with the lack of Torana's paying tribute and representing that era of Brocky's racing career - he didn't have to say anymore and before we knew it, we were all parked out on the track as well, making up the tail-end of the official parade lap... man what a feeling... the atmosphere and the feeling of pride of just being able to farewell Brocky like that.... unreal. A memory I will cherish forever, cruising side by side with all the other guys.. in front of a very appreciative crowd... once in a lifetime kind of experience....

THANK YOU RICK, you made it happen mate, bloody legend!!

Throughout the day, it was great as always to catch up with all the usual crew, and also meet a couple of new faces... LC69GTR (Many thanks for the stickers, much appreciated mate).. and also wraith75, great to meet you too.

Was great having LX406 out in the car with Deb and I too, and also her young nephew (5 years old), he loved it!

I thought all the speakers today were fantastic too... they were all very genuine and spoke with their hearts on their sleeves in front of a huge crowd. One part of the service involved highlights being shown on the big screen of Brocky's 9 Bathurst victories... at one point the audio died, and I swear I've never heard such a silence at Sandown before... the entire 10,000 strong crowd was sitting there in total silence, hanging on every part of the video... so anyway after the audio died the crowd starting clapping each victory.... the '79 A9X win got the biggest round of applause by far!!!!

Once again, a great day... mixed emotions as everyone else has said, but not a day I will forget in a hurry... and driving through that crowd and hearing them all cheer our Torana's on...... that's what I'm talking about!

It was shame most people couldn't make it back to the pub with us afterwards for a meal and a couple of beers, and a good chat about the day... but thanks for a great day today everyone....

Cheers.

Well done to all that attended and thank you to those who have shared their photo's and video's.

I am proud to be apart of this forum!!! The way in which you have all (including those who laid the wreath at the crash site) represented the rest of us who could not take part is truly a credit each and every one of you, and reflects greatly on the forum in general.

Yours in total appreciation,
Brett, AKA Duck05

I needed closure and I think it was there today. Hearing Harvey, Split Pin (Phillip Brock, the younger bro) and Skaife talk was what I needed. What really choked me up though, was Allan Moffat. So long was the rivalry between these two "Heroes" in my era. And then to team up together for an assult on Europe. This wasn't a Holden V Ford thing but the 2 best drivers in the country at the time taking on the world. Moffat said they were mates, to everyone he was "Brocky" but to him he was Peter. Moffat had a lot of trouble getting this out and It choked me up.

I was a little disappointed to in the ratio of Torrys, Commys and Monaros.
But you then realise that most of his fans are younger and remember the Commy era and there aren't in comparison that many Torry's left. Also we have to thank him for the "Brock Commodores" which will remain his legacy and no doubt increase in value. The Monaro relates his baptisim to the "Mountain" and also his 10th Victory.

I would like to think that Skaife summed it up with his departing words,

Brock asked at the Pearly Gates,
Which way does the track go?
And what is the fastest lap?

I'd just like to take Duck05's words from above and really just ditto it.. Well said mate.

Thanks to everyone here who's shared their experiences with us all of how Brockie changed your lives, and that everyone here has held themselves with such great honour in what really is a difficult time.

I'm very appreciative of you all, and of the way you've all behaved both on line and representing our forum out there in the public eye.

Well done to you all.
Regards
Rob.

I attended with one of my sons, a fitting tribute and very emotional afternoon. As mentioned earlier the audio dropped out during some video tributes, and you could have heard a pin drop in that packed grandstand, such is the respect for the great man!!! My highlight was to hear Allan Moffat speak about his great rival!!!
