Well someone stuffed it up.

https://www.whitelin...Z5383_Z5326.pdf

Should be mounted on the lower arms.
I got the brackets bolted to the top arms, not that the instructions state which arms to bolt the bracket to.

Most complete I have ever had the dash. Most complete I have ever had the whole car really.
Dash is a Bit hacked up but I’m still excited.
Someone has mounted in some auto meter gauges in factory cluster housing, they aren’t even straight FFS.
Tossing up whether to source an original cluster or just use what I got.

Been clearancing HQ caliper slides for tiered ends. Ordered new tiered ends today so wanna fit them all up and check clearance before going any further.

So many almost finished jobs but waiting for parts, time, money, other people,
Missus is pulling me up on the spending as she is planning a big weekend holiday end of this year.

Also made the bonnet hole a bit better rounderer.
Another hack job.

It actually needs to be moved furthur back to give a bit better clearance for the air cleaner.
Couldn’t even close the bonnet prior to cutting.

Have you seen what original clusters are going for these days? You won't get any change from a thousand bucks for a very second hand one.

Ye I had to take a second look at that bonnet also.
Was like WTF the first time.

Don’t talk too loud about the cluster prices.
Been talking to DanWA about one he has for sale.
I’m not really chasing an SLR cluster, just after one to fill the holes.
Or I just fill the center gauge hole with a engine temp/oil pressure gauge/display.
Auto meter speedo is in MPH.
Also they cut out the lower dash so the big gauges will fit in.
When all installed the lower dash cutouts are super visible.

If your going to spend 1000+ on a cluster

There's so many better options of gauges than stock ones

Hi Mick.  I had an SL cluster and thought about upgrading but the price to buy a secondhand/unknown condition one was not viable.  I ended up sending mine away to Classic Gauge Restorations.  Wasn't cheap but I believe I got a virtually new cluster for the price i would have had to pay for an old one. I know he has done a lot of Torana clusters, as well as other old Holdens and Fords, as well as other makes.  Maybe worth a phone call.  Cheers Ron

Spending $1000 on a dash cluster wouldn’t even fit in the budget at the moment.
I just want it to look like a complete dash, with lights that turn on with the headlights. Oil pressure light, water temp, fuel gauge or whatever they got in them.
I can deal with using the auto meter gauges I got (tacho, speedo, oil pressure, water temp) but I’m gunna need a fuel gauge.
Is a MPH speedo even legal?

Picked up new tierod ends this week, grease nipples in the side so it fits better (less grinding of caliper slides)with HQ calipers.
Also got a set of pedders subframe bushes and front upper and lower control arm bushes.

Basic list to get car drivable.
Rework aftermarket wiring loom that was already in the car.
Get front brake calipers to fit and give em a rebuild.
Exhaust from headers back
Fuel tank
Radiator and hoses
Trans lines and cooler.

Caliper slides have been attacked with the angle grinder. I clearanced these with the old tiered ends.
Just checked the clearance with new tiered ends and didn’t need to grind so much off.
Also had to do a little grinding on the back of the stub axle.

Bushes ready to drop subframe this weekend.
I really want to do the whole strip and clean, repaint and rebush the reassemble.
CBF painting it, Maybe just slap some black on it if it doesnt rain all weekend.
It’s just gunna be a clean and rebush I think.

Added a pic so you Can see the hack job that was done on the dash a bit better.

MPH won't be correct for your year of car

They will likely pin you on that one

Yes that’s what I was thinking.
Another hurdle to trip over along the way I spose.

On another note. Dropping suspension subframe and noticed this.
Assuming these should both have a shroud over the subframe to chassis rubbers?
Both sides are the same.

Another pic with correct orientation.
I’m uploading these direct from my phone.
With this one I held the phone sideways and uploaded the pic.
Pic in last post held phone vertical and it uploaded it sideways.

That’s the reason I’m m dropping the subframe.
Back ones are still good though ;)

So got subframe pulled out.
Arms off, rack off, degreased and pressure washed.
Engine being held up by a car ramp and a a couple blocks of wood.
I’m up for a steering rack rebuild and brake caliper rebuild and the front end can all go back together.

Main subframe bushing crush tubes are looking a bit average.
Rusty and starting to bell out from being over tightened.
Are these available to purchase?
Pedders kit didn’t come with them.

Also steering rack bushes I got are wrong.
I got the Round ones with the flat spot.
There is obviously different steering racks in these cars.

Hi Mick

Bit of light reading below regarding the nolathane

Hate to see you tearing out all of this in the near future

Didn’t read them all front to back, but got the idea after flicking through them.
I thought I read somewhere that they had fixed the issues at nolathane.
These ones are from Pedders, not that it makes any difference I spose.

Thanks for the heads up, but I’m not going to replace these again. I just need to get this car back together.
I’ll replace them “When” they fail.

Looking good Mick.  FWIW One thing I forgot was to put in the bump stops that go on the underside of the UCA before I had it reassembled.  Now having trouble getting one in.  Cheers Ron
