P51 i used the exact same "system" but from a different brand. It was a KBS product. I thought id give it a go. Had no issues with the cleaner, and the paint itself is great, just the 'metal ready' step was where it turned to the shitter... I might try the POR stuff.Project is looking good mate.....POR have complete systems for rust prevention and prep. Very good products....try" Metal Ready", which conditions the surface with a zinc phosphate coating, and leaves the surface ideal for topcoat adhesion, also try "Marine Clean" prior to this step, it is an excellent degreaser/cleaner, it will emulsify/dissolve all oils... Its hard to say what, if any, problem you had doing your engine bay....What product did you use??

Some go this colour, some go blue/green, some go black etc, depends on the acid use.

first approach was to use Ranex Rustbuster and wipe off with a damp rag (as per instructions). this turned it to a bluey/whitey colour in which i still wasn't convinced was a nicely clean etched surface. then i used the same acid and instead of wiping of with water i used Prepsol to wipe the acid off and then a clean rag to wipe the prepsol off. Seemed to give a very clean looking surface (not bluey and discoloured). Ran out of time to etch primer it so hopefully no surface rust appears over night...
