The newest project.. DIY AZZA STYLE GO KART!

Well I had been eyeing this engine off for so many years.. This edger was sitting in our shed for years, then it went up to my grandparents shed for a few years.. then it came back to ours.. Dad had a bit of a cleanout this weekend and decided it was going to go. So I clamed it lol..

It's a 3hp 4 stroke.

I was bored yesterday so I started pulling it apart and tweeking it up to see if I could get it to run a bit better.. Drilling out the muffler, removing the air filter, removing the blade + extra pulleys, and running it on thinners did the job lol.. It revs killa now.

This is just something to do in my spare time thats not spent working on the tory.. which is very very minimal lol.. So it wont be started officially until the tory is back on the road.

And today I supercharged it..

Dead set lol. Used an old vaccuum pump thing that was laying around. It looks exactly like a turbo lol.. It pumps a shit load of air, and when I get a bigger pulley on the engine, it will be pumping out heaps..

I just mig'd the shaft of it onto the pulley where the blade used to be, and made a quick little bracket to hold it a bit steady.. It was all done in 15mins, if that lol.. I jammed a bit of vacuum hose on the end and thats what I used to sit on top of the carby haha.

At the moment it is not getting enough fuel. The only reason it is running was because I had the choke all the way out. But thats not ideal lol.. Tomorrow I am probably going to waste my time again on this, trying to modify the carby to pump more fuel in.. When I should be working on the tory. But hey, it's fun lol

I got some more pics of it all close up but they are on my phone. I'll put them up tomorrow.

Cheers,

It's amazing what you can do when bored lol

Video of it in action!

I reckon the governer is governing by the sound of it.
I "adjusted" the governer on an old ride-on I had when I lived up in "Wraith" country. Lasted 2 laps of the yard :fool:

I tried the nitrous on my Talon mower on Tuesday night, worked a treat!! :D Think its got a bit of a rattle now tho. CBF setting it up properly so just stuck the main feed line straight into the airbox....

Bottle pressure was a bit low so the et's were a little inconsistant LOL

I pulled it apart tonight to clean it all up. Dismantled the carby, put it all back together.. And now the f*cker wont run unless the choke is out full, and when you let it go it dies.. Damnit.

Meh, good sign to get back into the tory lol

if you want to get a cheap nos setup on your mower, go to the op shop and get a old soda syphon
Posted Image
and go and buy some creame bulbs ( gray colored ones not green) from the supermarket about 9 bucks for 10 bulbs
Posted Image
, then atatch a hose to the soda bottle and crank in about two bulbs then pull the trigger.... cheap nos...........

Yeh apprenticeships are killa, get paid to study. Money sucks so have to budget pretty well. It will pay off in the end.
